Thread: Linking Pages

HI
I have created 6 pages on BV including my index page, and saved all files are .bpv files. I am having trouble linking my pages together.

I have used a navigation bar, and have tried to link my pages via this element. Say I am on my index page and would like to go to another page titled invitation, i go to the navigation bar properties window and then edit the invitation button:
link type would be : http
URL would be: www.cletabrainsilverwedding.com/initation.html

if that is correct, then i do not know where my problem lies, because it doesnt work.

I have also published the pages!

Can someone please help me!!!!

Thanks for your reply. Im sorry but im really new at this and i looked at the thread but when i check the list of servers i do not see the new server on the list. so i cant see thats the problem!

Why not download the latest version of blue voda, install it and try publishing again ...

Oh, one other thing, when did you get your account??


And are you posting the correct domain name??? I dont think you are ....

What would an xample of a correct domain name be?
ive tied my level best to follow all the tutorials and it doesnt seem like ive done aything wrong but im still not getting it to work properly! i can view each of my pages individually through the preview mode, i just cant get the hyperlinks to work!

Sorry i got the account in March of this year. and I have downloaded the new version.

An example of a correct domain name would be the url (address) of your website ... the one that you type in to come to your main page ...

what is that address, so we can take a look at where the problems might be ...

If that is your domain that you typed in this thread earlier, your domain must have expired it is now available to buy ???

So perhaps that is your problem ...

Hi there, after you publish, you will be able to see your pages you have linked together, until then the url is not live or activated ...

You can always check this at go daddy.

You are fine, I checked for you and you do not expire until March of '08

Your domain is currently parked ... what you will need to do is sign into your go daddy account, go to manage domains and change the namer servers there ...

Two server names you will need to change ..

Change these to the two name servers that Voda Host has provided to you in your welcome email.

The look similar to the below with the exception the xx's will be your own numbers

ns.XX.vodahost.com
ns.XX.vodahost.com

Once you make that change, your website will be able to be published using all of the information provided to you in your welcome email from Voda Hosting ....

You will publish your pages to public_html directory ...

Hope this helps bring you one step closer to your website being on line.

I have now changed my name servers
now im suck at publishing:
do i have to publish my index page before any other pages
if yes then to publish my index page
- i open the pagein BV
- then click on the publish link
- then enter my login info and my folder will be public_html

am i correct?

or should my folder be public_html/index ?

Yes you name, save and publish the "landing page" of your domain as index and to the public_html directory ... this is the folder that you will publish all of your pages to ..

Please note the use of all small letters, no spaces in the words of the name of the page, unless joined together by the _symbol .. ok

It will always be (or normally, there are other instances) however, it will always be to publish to public_html

ok sori i need to do this step by step

so i created an index page
i saved it as index.bvp
then i hit the publish button and in the folder box i typed in public_html/index

NO

Save as index
type is .bvp

Publish to public_html - only


index is the name of your page - not the directory in which you publish ....

A directory is a folder, that will hold all of the pages you create and publish to .... in this case is named public_html

and on you go ......

You have either not made the changes to point your domain name to voda servers, or they have not yet propagated through go daddy ...

your domain name is still parked ...

Ok sorry about that - i had made a mistake in the name servers but fixed it now
alright now my index page is on the web.

step two i guess:
- now i have created an rsvp page the page consists of a form
- as per the tutorials i understood that i needed to create a thankyou page as well
so these are the steps i took:

- I created a form on a page that i saved as form.php
- in form properties my form name is RSVP, the action is thankyou.php, method is POST, and encoding type is mutlipart/form-data
- within page proterties of my form page - my file extension is html
- i then created a page save as thankyou.bvp
- on my thankyou page, within page properties, my title is thankyou and my file extension is php
- within page html of my thankyou page i inserted the following script:
