Thread: why the index page not appear on the first domain page

I publish my site via Bluevoda FTP manager
(I don’t built my site with Bluevoda website builder)
The publish process go perfectly,
I open folder and do the publish I saw my site without problems, except one thing in order to enter the site I need to type the address like this www. happinessto.com/folder
My question is why the index page not appear on the first domain page, if I type only the domain I arrive to the index of page
What I do wrong?

Your 1st page (home page) in the public_html area must be called index as this is the 1st thing that will be looked for. With this page, directory /folder/ if you put an index page in here, you will reach it via http://www.happinessto.com/folder/

I call to my first page index and I do exactly according the tutorial
I open folder under public_htm l publish my site to this folder but the index page don’t settle on the first page of the domain name
When I type: www. happinessto.com
I don’t arrive to my site I arrive to the Directory page
In order to enter to the site I need to type the domain and folder like this www. happinessto.com/folder
I want that the enter for the site will be like this
www. happinessto.com
what I need to do?

Hi, when I go to http://www.happinessto.com I just get the cgi folder? Have you been to the public_html folder to see if your files are there, via c panel. I am not even getting anything on the http://www.happinessto.com/folder link. Remember that your files should be sent to the public_html area & not upload the whole folder.

You don’t see any files because I remove them but now I republish the site so now you can enter and see that the entering is only via folder

Hi, Ah! I see what’s happening now. You have 2 choices & neither is good.

• Change all your url links on every page & upload all your files to the public_html. This means all your links will NOT have the "Folder" name in them. IE:
  http://www.happinessto.com/casa1.html
• The other alternative is to take the page called index & the page called “casa1.html” & put them both in the publc_html area. You would then have to go to all your links that go to
  http://www.happinessto.com/Folder/casa1.html & change them to
  http://www.happinessto.com/casa1.html. At least this would only be 1 or 2 per page.

This is the address to your Kabbalah page

"http://www.happinessto.com/Folder/casa1.html"

Chris is right, you have to rename your pages to

"http://www.happinessto.com/index/casa1.html"

"public_html" is "happinessto.com"

"public_html/folder/ is actually the "index" in your case [your welcome page] "please enter"

"public_html/index/casa1.html" is your Kabbalah page

You also must not use CAPS for your file names. You name your index page
"Folder" with a capital "F".

My suggestion is to rename all your pages accordingly as above and then republish them to your "public_html"

To me your "Folder" or Welcome page is not necessary, it is not nice at all,
very poorly designed. Your Kabbalah page should be your "index" page.

Rename your page "casa1.html" to "index" and publish it to "public_html"

Your address will become "http://www.happinessto.com/index/"

Then publish all your other pages to "public_html/index/newpage.html"
