Question Page width question

In page properties I have set my page width to 800 and clicked center page. My content fits fine in this width but no matter what I do the page width reverts to 1157 so when I preview have lots of wasted space to the right of my page.
Anyone else had this problem and found a solution??????

And make sure you don't have ANYTHING outside the 800 width on the page - if you do - it will HAVE to go to the smallest width necessary to accommodate those items.
