    Default re incorrectly published

    The scenario is as follows:-
    www.sitesunion.com

    1. I published a page to index. It was the wrong page. I thought by deleting it I would get it out of my domain. No go.
    2. I was advised to make the right page the index page and publish it and it would overwrite it. It does not.
    2. It is publishing the new index page to public_html/index.
    3. it is not removin the bad site.
    4. I have been into the file manager in the cpanel and have removed what was the unwanted page but it is still there.
    Any suggestions please?

    You sound extremely confused???

You don't publish ANY page to index, you publish all to your public_htmm folder, unless an addon and then you publish to public_html/addonondomainname

index is what you call your website landing page. i.e. your home page.

You can't have removed the index file from your server as it would NOT show if you had.

    Hi,
You are right, the page was saved as index, and than published topublic_html to overwrite the page which comes up when my domain name is punched in, but it does not overwrite it.
The page I want to remove is the one that is my landing page.
    I don't want it.
I am a little green at this.
4 weeks of frustration now. but i have built a few pages.
See www.sitesunion.com/index that should be my landing page.
See www.sitesunuion.com that needs to be removed, I don't know how.
Is this better put? Yes, confused is mildly put!
Regret the confusion, the net jargon is still a bit strange to me.

I don't see a page on either of those links, so I am presuming you are getting closer to solving your issue?

I now see the same page on both links?

I am not looking very closely mind, so if the changes are slight, you haven't informed me of this.

Either way, if the page you want as your index page is NOT there, this will be the correct way to change it:

Republish the page you want to appear and ensure it is called 'index' all lower case.

If that still doesn't work for you, go into your server via this way....

BV > Tools > FTP Manager > Log-in > Delete 'index' file from RH side of the window under your public_html folder.

Then republish the index page again.

    Hi Bucks,
Taking your history with this site and your previous post into mind, I think you have two index pages but in different folders.

As Naveldesign has explained to you in another thread, your index page is normally published in your public_html folder. I know for a fact that you also published it to public_html/AIIM

As Ramsey has explained above, you can delete the index page, BUT only from the AIIM folder. Just leave it in the public_html folder. To do this:
    1. Open the Tools menu.
    2. Click FTP Manager.
    3. Click the Connect button.
    4. Enter your login details and click Connect again.
    5. You will now see two panes. On the left you will see files on your pc. On the right you will see the files and folders on the server.
    6. In the title bar on the right you will see that you are in the public_html folder.
    7. Double click your AIIM folder. There you will see your unwanted index, html file.
    8. Select it and click the delete button or press the delete key on your keyboard.

That should do it for you.

Navel has also given you good advice on your other thread with your other questions.

    Bucks,

If you trust me, (of course you can), please email me through my website with your login details and I will have a look for you. Once I'm done you can change your password again if you want.

Great tom, I'll do that immediately.
I can not get in via your way.
It asks for a pssword. Yet get into cpanel with the same password. That is the password we use, yes?
