Thread: I neglected to watch the tutorials

I'm feeling really stupid here. I've used File Manager to upload all my pages into the directory public_html. I haven't uploaded any images yet as I want to make sure I'm on the right track first.

My pages are all there in the public-html directory (loaded as index.bvp, fishing-report.bvp, etc) BUT if I try and view my homepage I get this:

which suggests something is screwed up. Plus clicking on any of these links asks BlueVoda to open the page (which it cannot and then crashes).

Why have you UPLOADED all those bvp files by an ftp program?¿

You are supposed to PUBLISH your pages.

and the first page should be saved and published as
index
nothing else

Well that's the first mention I've seen of "PUBLISH" and in fact the only mention. When I do a search in CPanel it also doesn't seem to know anything about "PUBLISH" . No wonder I'm confused (still)

Hi Muzza,

1 - Open your Blue Voda Program
2 - Open your index page (remember - it should be lower case index only.
3 - Just on the right side of your "preview in browser" tool (top menu), you have an icon (2 small pages sliding) - THIS is what you should use to publish your pages.

4 - Press it - a small popup window will come asking you to select server nr, insert username and password.
In it, you shall also choose in wich directory you want to publish your files to. Usualy, its /public_html

5 - Click ok, and a small window with green loading bar will come up.
After your page is published, a success message is displayd.

If you have done it all right, when you type your address in your browser, you shall be abble to see your page.

Thanks David, It turns out that I'd already seen that tutorial a couple of weeks ago. I've seen so many that I forgot that one existed.

Many thanks for your detailed explanation Susana. Much appreciated. I can now see my homepage.

Now on to the next set of problems. According to the video tutorial provided by David you have to load each page one by one. According to what I see after loading 3 pages individually - I get one homepage ...... and nothing else (plus several of my images are being renamed - by something).

Hmmmmm no wonder they want the money up front

I'm not intending to be rude but I think you said it yourself in your thread introduction.... "I neglected to read the tutorials".
Some of us have also made that mistake, so you are not alone. Just go back a start at the beginning again and it should all come clear.

Thanks for the comment Patsy. Do you really believe that I would open this thread if I hadn't watched the tutorials? Took me a while to work it out but good old davidundalicia got in there, made an assumption, got the wrong end of the stick and changed the title.
