Thread: Windows updates a major Issue with publishing

This is getting highly frustrating.
It all started with the 12029 Error bug 6 weeks back and its elimination via "windows restore" and restoring XP to the date before the 12029 entry.
Now it's happenig every 5-7 days and I need to go through the "Windows restore" process everytime which does work but only temporarily.
Is there any way to prevent this? - "Windows XP For Dummies" do not recommend automatic updates be turned off.
Help would be greatly appreciated with this issue.

A quick update. After much deliberatin and pro advice I've decided to disable Windows Automatic updates - afterall XP is approaching its used by date and this just may prevent Error 12029 appearing completely.

which version of bluevoda do you have? my computer used to do the same thing, until i downloaded the latest version of bv, which is version 10, then it was fine after, hope this helps

This is most likely your culprit and NOT the update itself

Internet explorer, tools, internet options, go to advanced tab.. scroll down to the section titlled SECURITY.. and UNTICK the box that says "check for server certificate revocation*". ...

See if that fixes it

Not the solution, but does eliminate the pop-up since the MS Genuine Advantage Tool was updated the third time recently.....

I'm sure my Builder is the latest. Where exactly do I find that out in the system before I decide on another download?
