Thread: applying a link (or element) chage to all pages

Hello,

I was wondering if there is simple way to create a new link in my menu bar (and maybe also a change to the page layout) and have it take affect to all my pages simultaneously without having to go into 32 different pages to make the changes individually. As of now I have simply crated my index page and copied and saved it as whatever page I needed so they all look the same however, every time I decide I want to make a change on the layout or links I have had to go into each page individually and make the changes. Is there any easier less time consuming method to doing this should I add more pages to my site?

Naval has illistrated a way to create a single menu that can be called up into all your pages using a bit of php code. If you need to make an adjustment in the future, you only do it once.

I use this system all the time now for headers, footers, menus, page templates. It saves so much time in the long run

One thing though, do SE like this method? I have a drop down menu (created in BV) for functional purposes at the top of my site, should I include a BV text menu as a footer? Do SE find it and give it the same priority as if it were located at the top of the page? I'm asking because in thread #51 (in the php method DarrenC linked), I read the that drop-down menus don't get spidered by SE. Is that because the use of the PHP extension method or is that true of any drop-down menu regardless if the page is html or php?

Text menus are the best way to go for the SE's (imo)

Will my pages get spidered better if I include a text menu at the bottom of my pages?

Right now all I have is a drop-down menu bar on top of the page to help better navigate the site.

Yes,,, text menu at the bottom is a good idea
