Since PUBLISHING problems are still occuring, since I further need help, and since the thread where I posted this question is now closed, I am in the obligation to post about it anew, and I guess I'm in the right section. David, I did what you said me to do : "Go into your Cpanel click on file manager click on public_html and you will be able to see all your file names. check that the file name is exactly spelled as in your link or vice versa." I went there, and saw that I didn't name the troubled pages identically. Slowly, in order not to make any error, I re-typed the cPanel correct names into BV. So : I re-named, re-saved, and re-published every troubled page. Crossing fingers, I went on the web, so that I could check if everything went back correctly... Once again: NO, it didn't. Always a "404 Error" and "Requested URL Not Found" message... I have to say I feel more than lost. |

Post the offending url again here as sometimes your browser is caching the old pages. In most of these cases its because of mis-spelling or leaving white spaces in the name. Thats why one word names are best to begin with. |

OK, David, here's the site. It's when clicking on any of the two "CLAIM..." pages that the errors occur. (I'm not at home this evening, currently, but at my parent's one, for dinner. Still, as you can see, I'm not thinking at all about any dinner, but about my website... Talk about a heavy website-building "contamination".) |

Have just done a site map of your website and it only shows that you have published 5 pages. /index.html /lowest_prices_on_the_web.html /faq.html /free_caricatures.html /contact.php these are the only pages showing, Hate to say this but you sure you published these two pages. and if you insist that you did, was the public_html/ showing in the folder edit box in the publish box.

I published these two pages -as well as all the "error" and "success" following them pages- twice. I guess the public/html was showing. You know, this site has something like seventeen pages, and all of them were published quite "naturally", with the same "fluency"... I didn't notice any particular problem in the process of publishing them. It's only when, after the publishing was done, I checked out if everything was actually on the web, that I saw that these pages weren't published. This is when I made the second publishing. OK. I thank you very much LadyEye, once again, for this kind help of yours. I will verify this "public_html/" thing once I'm back home, tonight. Perhaps no sleep for me, before many hours... LadyEye, you're my feminine idol, if I may say so... |

LadyEye, Karen Mac, D'son, David, and all the others, thank you. Thanks to your conjuguated help, I succeeded in having my pages published ! At this moment, I didn't try the checkout process. To be honest, I even fear to see further, at this point... But I overcame this major trouble for me, thanks to you all. What did I do wrong ? The names of my pages : they often had two different names ! One example ? I had "customize" and "order", id est two different names, for the same page. Another ? I had "order" and "payment" -once again, two different names- for another page... This is a major fault. My fellow VH newbies, pay attention to this : name every single page of your website(s) with one UNIC name. This unic name is a name that you'll have to put into URL links and so on, and HAS TO REMAIN THE SAME, wherever you have to put it. One unic name per page. I cannot stress this out enough. I lost two precious days because of this issue. I could lose much more days, perhaps weeks, weren't vigilant VH experienced people here to help. Thank you. |

I agree that it is a Major Fault but not with the program.............. Files always have different names Folders always have different names Any page in a book or magazine always have different numbers So whats different about page names ?¿ Where is the major fault. We have video tutorials on naming, saving, publishing, linking etc..... CARE TO USE THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!! Slow down and hurry up................... |

Writing direct into the quote is very practical and done quite often, so no problem. Newbies/beginners could read your Major Fault comment as a fault of the program whereas it was YOUR fault......so my comments are to clear things up for other members. We all make mistakes when we first set out trying something new, so dont sweat it my friend. |

| A 404 error has nothing to do with BlueVoda or VodaHost, so you do not need to submit a suport ticket/email or anything of that sort. It is a simple mistake made on your part in your naming of your page in respect to the address you are trying to link to. A 404 error means that the address YOU specified does not exist (the page is not there) its like dialing the wrong number, you can yell at the phone company all you want but they can not dial the phone for you.

Of course it was MY fault, and only mine. I should even put some copyright on it... |
