Thread: Published but all I see is 'Index of'

I believe I have read and watched all of the tutorials, which were really helpfull and very simple to understand, but I have clearly missed something somewhere. The website address is http://www.howcan.info although I rather think you will only see the 'Index of' list.

I have been messing about with this for a week and I really need the help of somebody who knows what they are talking about before I lose the will to live. If any body can help I would be very gratefull.

You saved your home page as Index it should be index with a small "i" go back and Save the page As index and republish.

I have amended that rather stupid mistake, but still the page does not come into view on the web. How long does it nornmally take between publishing a page and being able to view it on the web?

The page D'son was referring to was this one http://www.howcan.info/Index.html not the ones with the how to in front of the index this page should be http://www.howcan.info/index.html

I have saved the index page by writing in the 'save as' box 'howcan.info-index'. I understand the html gets added automatically when
the page is published. Likewise, the http://www. also seems to be added as the page is published, leaving just the specific name of the page, is that correct? I tried writing the title of the page as 'howcan.info/index' but it told me that this is invalid. Please help anybody!

You just save the page as index nothing else. Forget the howcan.info and the html for now, you only need to use those when you are linking pages. not publishing. This is true for all your pages, if you added the other stuff when you published you willl have to change all the names of those pages as well. Use only lower case, no spaces.

Hi D'son, I am having the same issue at http://www.water4gas-sierra.com/
I have my index as small letters and nothing else. Ive gone over and over my files and need some help. Im just not seeing what Im doing wrong. Thanks for help.

Try publishing, sometimes that helps.

I would just like to thank Alien Dude and D'son for their help on the 3rd, I ultimately got a page published (with errors) but then became distracted by business activity going on around me and I have remained busy since then, but a very belated but sincere 'Thank You'
