Default how to publish without the www in the url

Hello,

there are more and more sites which can be reached without the www.

How do I publish that one doesn't need the www.

I have something different on my site with the www then without the www.
Don't know how that happened.

Appreciate your helpful advice.

Thanks in advance
Maria

Just dont refer to any links with the www. in the url. Then you can also make an htaccess file with the URL directed to display as you choose.

Simply google htacess or 301 redirect or search the forum

Thanks Karen,

not sure if I understand i right.

My domain is an addon domain www.usethenet4.biz
Now when I upload my index file it shows in www.usethe....
Then there is another content in http://usethenet4.biz

I do not know how this happened and I do not know how I can change that, I mean the content of the site without the www.
I checked for htpaccess file but can't see it for this domain.

Could you explain me a bit more, or just how I could change the content

thanks a lot in advance
Best Maria

in control panel, file manager, make sure to tick that box that pops up that says show HIDDEN FILES. You can also just make an htacess file in notepad. NO biggie. You can still change how the URL displays no matter HOW your cpanel adds it. Just google it as i said.. theres 4000 tutorials on doing a 301 redirect to cannonize your url. Some will even generate it for you along with a robots.txt file.

99% of the time people want the www because thats what folks are accustomed too.

In your menu navigation and links to your site.. DONT USE THE WWW in the url.
