Thread: Coppermine Gallery Up-Load issues

Hello all, I'm hoping this is the right place for this and that someone may be able to help me.

I have a Coppermine Gallery that users to my phpbb use, located at http://www.panamintcharlie.com/gallery/ users began notifying me that on or around August 11th they could no longer upload to their respective gallery albums. After the "successful download" window, when a user then picks a album to publish to, a error pops up saying Destination directory albums/userpics/#####/ is not writable by the script !
#####=users # in the directory.

However, any users, or my test users that made new accounts after the 11th have no problems with any gallery functionality.

I have very limited knowledge of how any of these programs work. I figured it had to be that the users permissions somehow got changed in my file manager.

Upon looking at all users in the file manager I found that all my users prior to the 11th of August had there permissions locked at 755. By locked, I mean, I can't even change them. when I try , I get an error that states "a fatal error or timeout occurred while processing this directive]"

My new user's permissions are set at 777 and I am able to change the permissions as I please.

A Google search came up with others that had the same problems in the past but I was never given any clues on what the problem was or how to fix it. One reply seemed to point to a change on a host server. Was anything done to my server around the 11th of August?

I think you should submit this as a support ticket. They are the only ones who will be able to answer whether anything happened on the server that could have caused this.

Thanks, I was hoping that someone would come up with a simple fix I could make in the Gallery config or in my directory.

I've got a open ticket with support right now because the site went down this morning. Once that is fixed, I'll have them look at this problem.

I got hacked!!!! The clown used the open permissions in the gallery to get in. I noticed it within 15 minutes of him doing it. My ticket was answered within another 15 minutes and my site was restored by support within another 30 minutes.

Time from being hacked to being back on-line= 1 hour

Value of Voda Host support= Priceless

I'll leave a testimonial later.

Anyways, I'm not sure what the gallery problem was. Support said something about a upgrade that was done. They had my gallery all fixed within two days.
