Your customers can join by sending you an email which you would then organize their addresses into a mailing list, this can be accomplished easily with outlook express. You can add an icon/image that says "Sign up for our Newsletter" and this can be linked to your email address either by the address or a submit. You might consider organizing your email list in groups of 30, a pretty safe number for sending emails in bulk.
