Thread: Viper Guestbook Help

Please help!

I have had my website & guestbook up and running for some time now and recently I've been getting a lot of weird "spam type" guestbook entries. More and more each day. My website is no place for this kind of stuff. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

Isn't there a configuration tool that requires a person to register before they can post in your guest book? (I'm just asking, I've never used that application.) If there isn't, no, there's not much you can do about it.

In your admin area, go to Setup then scroll down to an area marked General Setup > Moderated Mode.

I changed the setting per your instructions. Not sure exactly how the whole thing works....but at this point, I'll try anything.

Well, tell you what, I'll make an innocent entry and then you can follow up to get a handle on it.

I think this is going to work for you. I made an entry and got a message that it would be checked by the administrator.

If this is what I have to do to make sure there isn't any unwanted material shown in the guestbook....then this is what I will do.
