    Default subdomain script help

I have located the .cgi script in the correct folder--but this is a subdomain site and I don't understand why, when I go to cPanel, File Manager, heathsstuff, that it lists the .cgi script URL as www.dianemilinowski.com/heathsstuff/hello.cgi.txt instead of www.heathsstuff.com/hello.cgi.txt . When I click the link to the scripts' location, an error message responds saying that the "viewer" should contact me (not such a great idea at this point anyway!) and I don't know what to do. Why is the URL location www.dianemilinowski.com/heathsstuff/hello.cgi.txt instead of www.heathsstuff.com/hello.cgi.txt?

Also, why does .txt append to the end of the .cgi script?

    Thank you very much

    I got it finally.

My next question..am I never supposed to use .cgi as the extension to my perl scripts or am I supposed to use the .pl extension? .pl is the one working even though it's in the .cgi folder. The book told me it might be either or so...NEVER? use .cgi extensions in BV or not?

    Thanks

    Diane..

Impossible to answer since I have no idea what you are trying to do within bv as far as cgi scripts. Is it a cgi site?.. I would guess that its not compatible or possible to format BV as cgi, however you might with the right script embed cgi code inside a page.. but im not sure.. and not sure id want the pleasure of tackling that headache.

Yes! You are right! I want the cgi embedded in a page--no big deal but still something I need.

I will be posting an apology and response to the password directory response I posted earlier and I hope my friends can please try to see things the way I see them--life for ME is NOT the same as it is for YALL (in general) and I am thankful that its' not. It will take me probably 1 to 2 days to supply the references I feel like I need to substantiate the hostility I have towards some of the business practices I have towards the Internet (which I do have, "the references") and still, I apologize now.

    Thank you for your help

    Diane..

Its not business practices.. although i sort of understand where you are coming from in a sort of way.. and Im sorry that you are having an awakening of sorts. You could become vulnerable to quacks on the internet if you arent careful... but.. if you go to the park with the kids.. you are physically more vulnerable than you ever would here.

You keep mentioning business practices and references..and I can relate how someone finding your learning process and your forum posts tampering a relationship or two.. but you can competently answer that everyone learns at some point in web development and move on.

Im not sure what else I can say, except that you need to toughen it up, deal with whatever damage you feel has been done to you and chalk it up to experience.

Its just like raising kids.. you make horrible mistakes as both you and the child learn and grow, and with the second child it gets easier because you have the experience. (too bad it doesnt work like that with marriages..lol)
