Lightbulb Basic CMS Questions

I'm building a website for a client and I want to use joomla for the content management system. I believe I can install this through cpanel fantastico once I add a mySQL database. Once I do this, do I building the pages with the bluevoda website builder or build them with joomla? My goal is to have a site that the client can logon to and easlily make changes such as images, sold items and update items for sale. Any help stiring me down the right path would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.....

Ok, client maybe sounds too commercial...A friend that would like a website and yes, I would very much like to learn. He is doing nothing but covering fixed costs. I don't expect anyone to do this for me, I was just hopeing to get pointed in the right direction for this.

Thumbs up Re: Maybe a Basic CMS questions....?

No problem!
Remember, spend a lot of time in their Forums reading up on some of the features you are most interested in, that way you are clear about how to go about setting up what you require as well as avoid some of the common errors other before you have dealt with! Just seems to make everything easier.

Vasili, if I may, I have a question...I've been doing alot of reaseach and gaining knowledge about joomla. What I was wondering is, if I build a template in bluevoda, can I use that template in joomla? It looks like in the admin area of joomla you are able to "load" templates for a joomla site. Can these be templates that are built using bluevoda?

Wink Re: Maybe a Basic CMS questions....?

No, it would be nearly impossible to take BV-created elements and sucessfully incorporate them into a template that would "fit" over a Joomla foundation. Unless you are a hard-core Joomlan with deep programming abilities, don't bother even thinking about it.

There are literally hundreds of free templates (some with some small advertising for the creator, some without) and hundreds more really ***** Premium templates for sale (without any ads or other stuff) that make skinning your Joomla foundation a snap, especially since you can change colors, layouts somewhat, and other elements once you get the hang of how Joomla works.

Google "free joomla templates" and you will find a ton of templates to choose from!
