Question Cleaning public_html will help?

Hi to all,
I have been publishing, re-publishing... changing name of pages, adding links, removing links, many times.
If I cleaning up all my public_html folder, and publish my website latest version, will that help with SEO???
Thanks
Saluti

Changing page names will HURT your SEO - as if they found that page already, you are now taking it away and making them start from scratch. They, and people, who try to go to the pages you had and removed, will get Page Not Found messages, so make sure you do redirects from all those pages.

Hi Beth, thank you for your answer.
What about if I remove all the pictures or shapes that I linked with a page.
Will this help or is a useless effort?
Thank you again I appreciate your help.

Jumpin' in here on this subject. Two questions - you mentioned redirects. How is this done? Second, how do I clean out my public_html file? I am reloading a new design with all new pages.Thanx
