Two-way link can be effective if both links are "like-minded" or at least the same or similar topic. But if the other link has a higher Page Rank, then the search engines look at that as more favorable in their indexing. Paid linking is the most unfavorable. Some sites have been banned. The best and foremost is to have good and unique content on regular basis so others would ask you for the favor if they could link to you. It takes time, but fresh content is probably your best option. |

Thanks for the idea and insights. How about reciprocal linking in blog like putting your link in a blog roll? I've heard that if your partner link has a higher page rank then you can inherit what your partner site has. Is that really true?

Despite the well-intentioned but inapplicable information provided by Forum Members above, reciprocol link strategies are left over form an earlier phase of Net valuations and optimization methods and presently represent no means of gaining worthy or reliable site valuation. They were simply an early method to quickly generate new traffic to new websites, since the early SE's measured traffic highly in their valuations. > Concentrate on developing one-way inbound links from a source site with solid Page Rank (at least 3 levels above your own site PR) and demonstrated relevancy throughout the source site: tight Content relevancy, source site page construct relevancy, and Compliant construct of the site throughout. One of the most assured methods is by submitting Articles, Reviews, or 'White papers' to be published with a link back to your site. This involves a focused effort to identify sites properly, composing the unique Content specifically, and getting it actually published on valued source sites, but the benefits are enormous. > Limit outbound links from your site to no more than 4-6% of overall hyperlinking on your site, and if you are placing any advertising banners on your site, make sure they are regularly refreshed manually if they are not dynamically created via a Network. Reciprocol Links tend to become unmanageable and unreliable in short order, as there is no guarantee that the source site will maintain relevancy, PR, or even compliance in the site build, and this may eventually create a loss of value to your site that mirrors the source site. Usually when reciprocol links are requested or required, there is an understanding that both parties have something to gain: usually a source site has the most to gain by adding relevant links, and the other site may comply due to newness, misunderstanding of the concepts, or 'webmaster' ignorance on how to best evaluate source site properly and develop sound strategy. Most definitely stay away from any link generator services, software titles that create links, Directories that promise traffic, or any other artifical method to create links, reciprocol links, or new traffic. They all present potential disaster to your website PR and future valuations by the SE's. |

Thanks for the very good explanation. So any idea on how to generate more traffic to a certain website. Maybe we can use both offpage and onpage optimization for that right?
