If you choose a background colour for your page by right clicking on yur page and choosing properties, this will fill in the sides of your screen with a color ...
if you also tick center in browser, your page will appear in the center of the page ...
No matter what screen resolution you yourself view in, others will be viewing in their own, so it is best to tweak your page for viewing in everyone's screen resolution as well as browser.
The current recommended page size is '800 wide and tick center in browser. This also avoids sideways scrolling of your page on everyones computer.
