Question Website Optimization

Hiya!

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for someone who specializes in website optimization.

What I'm looking for is someone who can/will take a peek at our website and make suggestions for making the site more search engine friendly, as well as making suggestions on our product descriptions.

Is there a company out there that does this sort of thing? Inexpensive is preferable, but I'll consider just about anything.

Thanks! :)

Kellie

Okie dokie, I tried the analyzer, and I have to admit, that I don't understand some of the results. Some of it was self explanitory, but for the key word section, it brought up everything, including the scent names that are listed in the drop down boxes next to each product. Not necessarily a big problem since I have had hits on my site by people using search terms that I never would have thought of to list in the key words, but it does seriously drop the importance(?) of the words I am trying to target.

Is there anything I can do to change these stats around, without completely redoing my site, or should I leave things well enough alone?

OK i'm not an expert or anything yet but I do know that you have to continue optimizing your website words, content, description tags, title tags, and meta name tags to help change your rankings in the search engines. I have been able to get my website up to the third position with the terms homemade soy candles in the msn search but have not cracked through on yahoo or google which uses different algorithm's which uses a ranking which is based on creating a lot of one links like this one I am creating by trying to help you out a little http://www.romancebyshirlee.com I would strongly suggest googling for free seo tools and learn , learn, learn because it is possible

Thumbs up Re: Website Optimization

Constructing a web site then optimizing it are two different catagories. I have helped out many friends with optimization. I wouldn't consider myself an expert at it, but then again no body is.

But i will give you a couple of teasers:
1. Your title has a stop word in it "and" bots do not like nor pay attention them because stop words are sign of poor writing skills.

2. For you index page your three main key words should be

- cozy cabin candles and crafts, cozy candles, candles and crafts,

from here you would add candles, scented candles ect..

this is what you currently have: candles, candle, pennsylvania, hand, crafted, poured,ma de,long, lasting, smokeless, natural, buy, flat, rate,sh ipping, decorative, richly, highly, scented

Why use keywords like rate, shipping, long, what do theses keywords have to do with your site?

Page is too wide, you want to reach a larger audience, not everybody will be able to view your page in its propper formatt.

But you know the site looks good but the inside counts as well. Your color selection is very good!!

Google does not pay attention to keywords so you don't have to worry about that. The most important thing is page titles and page descriptions. pet121

The most important, and easiest, is the page title.

4 tips

1. Dont use any word twice.
2. Combine keywords, even if it doesnt make sense, mine is (buy wholesale product supplier)
3. Use the | key (shift + key above enter) to seperate phrases eg (buy wholesale product supplier | free dropship)
4. Dont use too many, the fewer the better.

When search terms are excactly your site name, it can be rather easy to be #1. The problem beggins when visitors are looking for your services, but don't know you. I'm #2 in Google for "navaldesign", but if you use some of my other keywords, i don't even appear ( exception made for a couple of them)

I've been doing SEO for over 5 years (was sent to conferences to learn it for my previous employer and they still pay me as a consultant to review their website). I'll also beg to differ with using any words ANYWHERE on your site - whether the title, header or text - that don't make sense. No matter what else you need to keep your professionalism - and I, for one, won't buy from a site/store that isn't professional in all ways.

Another quick hint - your title needs to be keywords for that page - not necessarily your name - each page needs to focus on different keywords - albeit some will be very similar phrases - you shouldn't underline ANYTHING that isn't a link - and everything that you can link to products or other pages you should.

In your copy you should almost never use the words I, me, our - and instead use you, yours, etc (yes, there are exceptions). Your copy should also be active - making people interested - and using words and phrases that entice.

You are in a VERY competitve market - however, that doesn't mean you can't be getting the traffic and sales - in fact, if you do a better job than most others out there - you can easily get your share of them.

HI,

I have made some changes and now I am much better in navalddesign's link. Title relevancy for page content is red (0%). What does this mean? That I do not have my title name mention on my site? Keywords is also red (36%), but imoprtant kay words are included.
What is poision word (forum)?

Bethers,
thank you for your offer, but I don't sell anything on my site. It is more or less personal site for carp anglers. I belive there is only one thing interesting for international visitors (most of them are coming from VodaHost forum): gallery.
Thank you

Post Re: Website Optimization

to simply optimize website rankings and increase page views... why not try the basic seo tactics? article sumission (as well as directories), forum posting, and link trading (single and reciprocal)... this will surely increase your rankings on the search engines... as for "search-engine-friendly(ness)", hmmm... the keywords should be distinct, yet easy to remember (dont know how to reconcile that)...

I'll be watching for it, Kellie.

There is a lot more to on page optimization - which many people don't do - it's not just being se friendly and having distinct keywords - but in how and where you place the words and if they are words being searched for. A keyword certainly doesn't need to be easy to remember - it has to be a word or words that are being used to search.

Article submission, postings and link trading are off-site optimization. And if you are selling a product - without a professional site and on-site optimization, the off-site optimization is a waste of time. It all comes down to whether or not your customer, when you get them there - will buy.

Kjay, two things I can suggest, do a web serch for useing key words for roi advantage and read a few articles about it, and go to a web promotion site called "Self Promotion" run by Robert Woodhead. There you will find practicle advice that can be actually used and a free promotion tool that is professional and non search engine spamming.
