Thread: Public directory

Hello everyone,
It's been a great while since I've visited the community forum. Without going into great detail on what I've had to endure over the past several months in getting my business off the ground, I will get to the point of my posting. Without overwhelming you all with several issues I've encountered, I will post my issues one-at-a-time in hopes of working out the kinks.

I am pretty much complete in creating my web site (Design Right Impressions). That is to say that I am at the point of uploading images of my product. However, the first thing I noticed when typing the URL to my web site (www.designrightimpression.com), the site is veiwable on the internet. How can this be if I am still in the stages of building and completing my web site?

Please HELP! My site is NOT ready to be launched.

Server not found


Firefox can't find the server at www.designrightimpression.com.



* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I think she took the site down.

With Soho, you are building with the site online. You could put a temporary "site under construction" up for the home page - and on all the other pages you could pull them offline.

However, better is to have some good content on the home page - so that the se's start spidering you. Believe me - unless you put the name out publicly (what you just did here) no one is going to find you.

Thank you Bethers. Though many of my potential customers are aware that I'm working on my web site, I have not announced its launch. I'm hoping the added measure of not adding metatags yet will prevent anyone from seeing the site as well.

Meta tags wont keep you from being viewed. Once the link is posted the search engines have it.
