Thread: Shopping cart UK/USA Issue

Working on my cart at present and have managed to change the currency from $ to £ as it is a UK site. However, doing a quick test on the cart everything was showing as £ right up until the payment page where it reverted back to the $ sign. Is this changeable?

Also, I want to tick the options for payment that I would like to allow my customers to pay by, however, one of the options is paying by check. In the UK we spell this CHEQUE, again, is this amendable?

These may seem small issues but I want my customers to feel they are dealing with a UK company at all times.

Thats in your cart display settings to change that.

As far as changing to the cheque.. youd have to edit the display text in the php include file, and without hitting the server, that I dont have time for this morning I cant tell you. See if you can view source and see which file its calling up for that page. That should tell you where to start looking to edit that.

One more thing.. DO NOT EDIT those php files with your file manager editor. Download them and open them in note pad or you will REALLY mess up your install.

While you are editing cart display, you might also consider turning OFF that customer signin there. Ive found thats the number one KILL to a sale.. requiring them to make an account.

Well Youre lucky indeed.. You just need to replace an image...

I didnt see anywhere else it said CHECK other than that image.. so.. you just need to make a new lil gif with the same name, and upload it to the above path exactly, and it can say wutever u want it too!

Thanks Karen, problem now solved. Created a new image as you said and just replaced it. Only problem is I have to redo that process every time I upgrade soho as it automatically appears to put the original one back in!

P.S. If you ever need a pair of wedding *****....

I dont know of a way around having to upload the picture, unless you customize the shopping cart template, which.. I havent tried to mess with yet... and then run that customized template. All you would have to change is where it calls for that picture and change the path to say the regular image folder and that would prevent it from getting overwritten. Ill look to see if thats an option this weekend, as that would be good info to have and Im going to be updating stores and then launching a new account and a new site.. so I will be diggin in stuff anyway.

I am NOT gonna have time to go play with that code.. but heres a simple thought! Make that picture read only in permissions to prevent the overwrite. If it gives you an error about it, but updates anyway, Id leave it... if it prevents the update, then we will be back to altering the template.
