Thread: Need Karen Macs Expert advise please!

Hi Karen I really need your help - Bethers has asked me to find you because you would be able to help. I was having problems with my template and things not fitting this is all sorted now. The proble i am having trouble with now is - my ssl certificate. When you go to check out and then decide to carry on shopping it goes to a https page which is then bringing up non secure items on every page. Bethers gave me the following advise:-

''Not sure why you want to change the SSL certificate? I think you only want to change what you display on those pages and then the url you return to from them to continue shopping.

If you're having trouble with that - find Karenmac - she'll be able to help with it - I'll send her this url to see the thread.

Ok. Your ssl is doing what its supposed to. I didnt get the pop up, but when i got to the sign in page i clicked continue shopping and it sent me to your cart catalogue, and that is supposed to be https. I didnt click on one of the category outer pages.

Now when i clicked off you menu go shopping, it did stay in https, which isnt serious, but it should revert back to http, so you need to have your designer correct the link in the cart template. Whats triggering the pop up is the mouseover on your images, which, is normal cuz its javascript.

One thing you will want to fix is that customer sign in thing. Go to shopping cart manager, and in the middle column the display, and about midway down is a question about the remember me feature, untick this, or tick NO to get rid of this.

Karen you are a star thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I will be on to the designer again and hope he can sort it out. I will change the sign in asap I really do appreciate your help.

Hi Karen I have spoken to the designer and this is what he has said:-

'''This isn't really template related. The links are created by Soho's
auto-menu system. This is the link in the shopping cart:

<a href="../index.php?pr=Go_Shopping" class="hmains">Go Shopping</a>

As you can see the link doesn't specify the domain.(../) Because the
user happens to be in https thats what it uses to fill in the blank. I
don't see anyway to change this really.''

Not sure where to go from here any ideas? Thanks for all your help so far x

Well.. I have ideas but I cant post them for the xrated content.

I could force it to resolve with the .htaccess file. You could redirect https://yourdomain/index to http://yourdomain/index I think, of course use the correct extensions. You can get the proper texting for this, just google htacess. You can edit the htaccess with notepad, and just save as when you are done. I think the syntax is simply

redirect https://domainname.com/index.php http://domainname.com/index.php

but look it up to be sure. And.. Im not sure it will work and not cause a loop because it is technically one and the same, but in theory it should work. If it does loop, just delete your changes and reup the file.

I see why the programmer coded it this way for ease of use, and as i said, even if they click NO when the pop up occurs, your mouseover dynamic pics is what isnt going to show up. You should also put in a gripe at soho bugs to correct this.

Thanks Karen stupid question but how do I contact soho bugs? Will have a look on google and see what I can do but im still very new to all this and it seems sooo complicated!! Im sure I will be back for some more help so sorry in advance! Thanks for all your help xxx

LOL.. Soho Bugs.. Used to be a link on their forum, where you could report bugs to the developers. Post over there and ask em. I dont have it handy. Been awhile since ive been in over there.

To fix the redirect in the builder.

Reading up on the ssl layer and socket issues its more a servlet redirection than using htacess correctly. As I said it might cause an endless loop, and Soho can program to fix this easily.

Youre Welcome! LOL.. those boys at soho prolly hate me, but on the other hand they SHOULD pay me for helping them out so much with this. I wont say ive been responsible for ALL changes.. but for alot of good ones anyway.
