Default Soholaunch problem - pop-up goes POOF

I am taking over management of an existing web site. The instructions said to go to the site/sohoadmin and log in with user id and password. Once I got past the fact that the tool doesn't like Firefox (I haven't had to use IE for ages...) and enabling pop-ups for this domain, I had a new problem.

The log-in worked, the log-in page came up with the statement

Program should open in a separate window

A separate window opened with a title including the right domain name. The program looks like it's initializing.

Then POOF, the separate window disappeared.

I've tried this on 3 computers in my house, and more or less the same thing happens.

Could you give me any ideas about how to track down a solution to this? I don't know anything about the history of the group using this tool.

Disable your pop up blocker, and allow this site. Thats the reason it POOFS.

Karen,

I guess I wasn't clear. I had disabled the pop-up blocker on each of the computers where I tested this. The pop-up actually launches - in some cases I can actually see the buttons start to form on the top. But then it goes POOF -- or exits is probably the correct technical term.

Is there any kind of tracing data that I could collect to show you where it exits?

in explorer toolbar, make sure you allow popups from this site, and that it doesnt show any blocked. If its other software, I would disable it all together.

Make sure you are running the latest JAVA platform. You can click on it in control panel and update it.

short of that, whats the URL to your site?

Karen,

Well, I think it's the latest version of Java, but how would I find out for sure?

Would the pop-up be launched at all if the pop-up blocker wasn't configured to let it launch? It does start. It just exits prematurely.

I don't see anything in the Javaconsole when I look. Is this an applet? Is there any way to turn on tracing?

The URL I'm trying to use is

http://nccoaches.com/sohoadmin

Of course I can't put the userid and password here, but if you need it to debug, you can contact me directly.

Karen,

OK - I've downloaded and installed the JRE from the page that you pointed me to.

I've run the verification from IE that it has indeed been successfully installed.

I went to

http://nccoaches.com/sohoadmin

and logged in successfully.

A separate window came up with the little "Loading module" gizmo going around.

Then the pop-up window disappeared.

So the problem is still there.

What can I do next to debug this? Should we be taking this offline, or is it appropriate to keep going in the forum?

Nothing shows up in the Java Console.

Put in a support ticket. It may be a firewall on the server is STUCK, or a problem with the installation. In either case i cant tell as I cant log in to your store to be sure. Make sure you give them the logins to your store. If they can login then its an issue with your computer and you are STILL blocking it somehow
