Default How do you link to a pdf file?

Is there a way to link to a pdf file so that it automatically opens?

    I tried the following.

    1) First, I uploaded to documents a pdf file that I labelled "mod1_PG.pdf".

    2) Secondly, I opened "edit page" for a webpage that I called http://nativestar.org/index.php?pr=M...rt_Guide_Intro

    3) I went to the documents button on the "edit page" and added the pdf file to the page.

    4) The result: The webpage shows a file icon and a link to "mod1_PG.pdf". If you click on it, you can open the file, but you have to go through the rigamorole of the file download box.

I know that on many sites that have pdf files, you can click a link that will automatically open up a pdf file. Do you know how to create a link like that?

    Thanks,

You can have the file open inside an Inline frame. Add the -Frame to a page, double click it and in the properties box enter the URL of the file

Ok.. yeah i did it in about five minutes

    http://www.grannyscountrynook.com/index.php?pr=Test

Open Notepad and put this code in it.

    HTML Code:
    <embed width="843" height="1200" src="http://www.nativestar.org/media/MOD1_PG.PDF"><noembed>You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader</noembed>
Then go to file, save as, change the bottom window to all files, and name the file whateveryouwant.inc

Now go tot he page you want it on, drop a custom code box on it, select upload a file, browse to where you just saved this file, click it, then when it finishes uploading select the file from the drop down, and say ok. you can adjust the width and height of the lay out to suit you.

    Save page..

There u go.. no iframes needed.

Thanks for all the help. It came down to being so simple --

    1) I opened a text editor module.
    2) I created a text link.
    3) When you go to the hyperlink section, just click under file. The pdf files are staring right in your (OK, my) face. Click on the desired file and the link is created.

When I go to the webpage and click on the link, the pdf file opens right up.

    Thanks for all the help.

Yes... the link was on the page...however, it opens right up because its already on your computer... it wont be that way for your visitor.. if you do it the way i outlined above.. it will be OPEN when they hit the page.
