Thread: Soholaunch not working for me

When I go to install soho launch I type in my user name and password the way they gave me but then this shows up...

The installation can not be completed:
- You chose to install in the main directory of the domain "mysite".com, but there are conflicting filenames, therefore we can not proceed. Following filenames already exist in the main directory of the domain "mysite".com (path="/home/(username)/public_html/").You must manually remove these files before proceeding with auto-installation:

in (username) is the username i typed in I have no idea what it means or how to "manually remove" that file. please help

You must install soho into a NEW or CLEAN directory. You obviously tried to install it over another program. It also has to be installed in a domain or subdomain..not a FOLDER

I understand thats what I need to do, but I dont know how to do it. I go to fantastico, then new installation, then enter my username and password. No where inbetwen the beginning of that and the end is there an option to save it some place else

You need to have 1) your account reset
2.) create a NEW addon domain or subdomain

THEN install soho

How do I have my account reset? I have no idea where to even look. Im sorry for the hassel but all I want to do is begin building my website and its extreamly frusterating to have things not working then have to post my questions on this rather than talking to someone

I think that was an either 1. OR 2. In the case of 1, you submit a support ticket asking for your account to be reset. In the case of 2, you can learn about add-on and subdomains by watching the video tutorials. Resetting will allow you to install Soho to your existing domain name.

ok so i entered the support ticket and it allowed me to download soho, but now when I go to my domainpage with the sohoadmin it says page error? whatd i do wrong or what didnt I do?

you have to first login to the admin area and SET IT UP.. and agree to the terms and conditions.
Please do the tutorials.. then you will have at least a clue of where to start and what to do.

I have memorized the tutorials. In the email they sent me after I installed soholaunch it says admin URL then a link, i clicked on the link and it said "The webpage cannot be found." Im sorry if I am frusterating you, but I can guarentee that this is far more frusterating for me.

the link will be your domain name followed by a /sohoadmin/

Its there you login to set up your account.. if you just click the domain of course it wont be found.

Also please post your link.. otherwise its impossible to do anything but GUESS.

ok so I finally was able to get to the "Initial Setup and Configuration" now what do I enter for the database name? and is the database username and password the username and password for MySQL?

What are you doing? You install soho thru cpanel and you use fantastico to install it. All this is done for you. All you have to type in is where you want it installed.. and what you want your user name and password to be.

I thought you watched the tutorials?

Put in a support ticket and ask them to install it for you. Ive no idea what you are trying to do here. And its obvious you have no idea either.. or this post wouldnt even be here.

I did everthing the same exact same way 3 times and it took the third for it too work. I knew what I was doing but it just simply wouldnt work the first 2 time. Thank you for your help.
