Thread: SEO questions

Hello,

I have a couple of questions regarding SEO.

1. Trying to add HTML to my home page for SEO. I can't find anywhere to add it. I knew how to do it in BV. I am trying to add webmaster google tools, such as site map to it. Need to verify it is my site by adding a code.
2. I just installed the v4.9.3r25 version, from the r17, b/c it was suppose to make my url's more SE friendly (starting at r20)? For some reason, they are still the same right now. I logged out, and back in to see if that would change, but it didn't.
3. In the webmaster, under "search engine ranking" at the bottom there is,
"misc. SEO-realted preferences, Replace menu links to Home_Page w/ domain root URL? Then there is yes or No. I have no idea what this means and wonder if I should switch it to yes?

I watched the tutorial, again, for adding HTML, but are confused b/c there is no head, body, ect.
What am I missing?!

There is a meta tag version and HTML file (for the google verification SE)
I could have easily done both with BV, but have no idea how to in Soho.
I tried to create the HTML file for verification, but the URL doesn't do the loveitshop/pagename, like I thought it would after installing the latest version. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but sure am wasting some time trying to figure it out!

Just open notepad..

type in google verification in the body.

file, save as, change the bottom box to ALL FILES, type in your gooogle90000000numbers.html

Now.. go to cpanel, file manager, public_html and UPLOAD it if soho is your main directory.

Same with a sitemap.. of course tho you have to use a thirdparty generator. Save it as sitemap.xml and upload it the same way.

Sorry, not sure what thirdparty generator is.
I will try out the rest though, as soon as I remember my current IP address(:

Meaning the sitemap maker is NOT included in soho.. YOu could buy their addon.. or you can search the forum.. several have been posted for SITEMAP Generator. Google for the same.. dozens of freebies out there.

I did everything like you suggested, buy it still won't verify it for some reason. Not sure where I messed up!

I can see it listed in my files. Was I suppose to somehow save it to the sohoadmin folder instead?

No.. just upload it to public html .. thats it
