Is there any way to change the registration on smf forum. I would like the users to use their first and last name as a user name.

It is hard enough to attract logins to your forum

What is so special about your forum that you want to burden visitors from registering.

Thirdly by allowing to use their own preferred usernames you will be able to check their user names against a black list with spamhaus, stopforumspam and FSpamList and also google to ascertain whether they are genuine registrants or hardcore spammers or just backlinks registrants who does not have any intention to participate in your forum.
