some advise needed

i'm in desperate need of some help. a member of mine private messaged me on my forum explaining that a number of members are useing my private message service for illegal activity on my phpbb3 board...i need to get proof about these members so i can take legal action. i need to access their accounts to copy any of their illegal activity i may come up against. is there a way i can access this via my blue voda control panel?

You are talking nonsense. What legal action can you take?

Just ban them from your forum permanently.

Goto the members profile and select "administrate User"

When the page opens goto the bottom and select the go button.
A dropdown menu will give you all the options.

Then goto the last bottom dialogue box and select Delete all Post.

To do all the above you will have to sign in as an Administrator.

i am NOT talking nonsence when they are useing my name and my website for fraud to obtain free clothing....this is how they are doing it.
they are useing my name to send emails from my website stating they are me....asking for free clothing for models.....i have no models! so they could be female members. i have been told they have had at least 500 pounds of free clothing and selling them on ebay. there are three members involved in this scam so i'm told (still just hearsay). i have had no emails from any sponsors about any clothing i'm hoping to recieve an email then i can work with whoever gave the clothes out if there are any. they are useing the private message service to do their activites....they are not stupid as i have chat rooms and they never use them.

You can login as them and check there PMs a bit sneaky but hay what the hell.
It means you have to change the database but as you remember to save there encrypted password before changing anything you'll be ok.

You might want to test this on a test member first just so you know what your doing.

Simply open up your phpBB DB, scroll down the left panel to _users

Click the browse box to the left.

Find the user you want to change password of.

Click the icon that looks like a pencil

Find the column by the name of “user_password”, and simply replace the encrypted password with… ( remember to save there's to replace after )

Then scroll down to the bottom, make sure the left dropdown box says SAVE then click GO

This will reset your password to “123456″, without the quotes.

Hope this little tip helps!

You will now be able to login as them using there username and the password 123456. but if they are clever then they would have deleted any pms
