Converting Phpbb2 to phpbb3 - don't delete the old forum!

This is going to be very obvious to all of you, but thought it might serve as a warning what NOT to do!

Advised by Alien not to delete my old forum before I knew everything had converted properly to the new version, I followed these instructions. I checked all the posts/members/topics etc. had come through fine, and being happy with the new forum, deleted the old, and renamed the new.

Then I noticed that I had no rank images - and they weren't on my PC for some reason either! Having deleted the old forum they are lost forever!

When I converted a second forum this weekend, I followed Alien's instructions and DID NOT DELETE the old forum at all - I just renamed it. That way, anything I later discover hasn't come over, I can easily get access to.

I will be deleting it - but not for a while! Lesson learned! LOL

PS - converting from 2 to 3 is ridiculously easy to do, so if you're putting it off like I was, you needn't worry about it.
