Forum already exists

Hi

I am in the process of transferring my website to VodaHost from another.

I also have a forum attached to the site. I have been reading tutorials on how to set everything up. My transfer won't be complete until the 30th August so for the time being I'm not able to access the cpanel to check everything out in there...

I'm presuming I have to start php from scratch again in VodaHost? My question is when I build a forum from here can I use my backed up info on my current forum to restore the forum, once the new forum is set up or is there something else I need to do to have my original forum up & running & not lose everything?

My forum is phpBB2

Yes you can migrate the forum to this host or IMPORT it. There may even be a tool or script to do it built in.. id have to get into the admin to verify.. as I moved a huge one from pb to vbulletin.. but it shouldnt be too hard to do.. even from a back up.

I do have another Q.

Rather than uploading phpBB2 from scratch using my own FTP client. Can I use this tutorial to upload php:

& still restore my old forum into it?

Yes.. but first make a backup of your old forum and the data bases and when you install there are instructions for importing your old forum to the new forum.. I didnt read. so I dont know all the details but Im positive it can be done
