Installing updates to forum

Embarressed to admit this, but I've been unable to update my phpbb forums to the latest version because I've forgotten the username and password.

I don't think it is anything simple, as I've tried all combinations of user names and passwords I've ever used. And I've been trying to do this on and off for months!

I did make a note of it once - but can't find the note. However I did find something with this info on:

cpanel
cpanel log in name

Is this the username/password? And does anyone know what the root path should be?

any tips on how I could find out would be welcomed!

It would be your data base user name and password...

Just go to your mysql and create a new user and password and attatch it to your phpbb database...the path you should probably leave alone...and then you put in your forum folder name there.. i forget which one exactly asks you that...
