Smile Acct Reset- Back-Up in Home Directory, How to Restore?

Since I have never done this I would like guidance before I go further. Due to some server issues my account had to be reset. Vodahost put a backup in my home directory. I need to know how to do the restore so I can get all my sites back up and running. Thank you.

If your account has been reset and then restored from thebackup, your main site SHOULD be up and running. Addon sites probably aren't but the files should be already on the server. Check in your control panel to see if the addon domains are defined or not, and if not, set them up as such (addons)

As i said, the files should already be there.

Hi Naval,

The backup is in my home directory, a large file ending in " .tar.gz ". I need to know how to restore from this backup. Everything is in the backup. Thanks in advance for your guidance. Just want to make sure before I go forward.

Naval, the account has not been restored, I have downloaded the backup zip file and I have it but I am clueless at this point as what to do. And since this has all my sites involved I don't want to proceed without knowing exactly what to do. Can I pay Vodahost to do this? Thanks.

After you verify that your addon domains are setup ok, you need to do one of the following:

1. You either publish again all your sites (all pages for each site). each in its own folder

OR

If the zip is made (which i don' know) with the same structure of the site, you need to upload all the zip content (I repeat: i don't know how the zip folder structure is and if it reflects the actual folder structure of the site before it was reset).

Supposing that it does, a good FTP software should be able to upload the entire content respecting the folder structure, and this would be the easiest way for you.

Do NOT use BLUE FTP, it has the bad habbit to "forget files and / or entire folders.

No, there is nothing there, no add-ons, nothing, just like starting over, then there is the cpmove zip, which I downloaded locally. VodaSupport refused to restore it for me, said I have to do it manually, but did not provide any instructions. I am willing to do it on my own but I would greatly appreciate some help, I even offered to pay to get it done.

Naval,

I used your contact form on your site, the cpmove zip file is very large so I could not send it. I did send a notepad file with the domain info and addons. Thank you for your assistance.
