Default I cant follow instructions

After 6 hours of relentless pursuit today for not, if I wasn't one to give up, I'd give up. Argggggggg.

I forewarn you I am about to get very detailed on what my issue is, and what I'm looking to do - here we go...

My main domain is http://www.bigweeklyprofits.com . That file is saved as index as it's my home page. My secondary page is http://www.bigweeklyprofits.com/regenesis_2x2.html . On my home page when the opt in form is filled out and the submit button is clicked, it will take the person to the secondary page. Everything here works seamlessly well....Ok, so what's the problem? I'll get back to the home indexed page above in a minute.

What I'm wanting to do is , I've got another domain I want to point to BV that is a seperate project. I am more confused on how to do this than I was before I started viewing the tutorials many hours ago.

Also, I made a single page for this domain I want to point to BV. Since this is a "home page" wouldn't that file have to be saved as an indexed page as well? I found out that yuo can't have 2 page files saved as index. This is problem #2.

If your not confused yet too, perhaps you can guide me along and save me another 6 hours of anguish.

Thank you!

Thumbs up Re: 6 hours of confusion

The following Tutorial will detail the steps you need to take to create an add-on domain, and to create the separate folders to which you will save "new" pages (including your 'index'), and how to Publish to the correct Directory:

http://www.vodahost.com/DemoDemo/cpanel_xskin/cpanel_xskin_addon.htm

Underneath the Video are the essential things you need to pay attention to, shown in red. Go over the tutorial a few times, and even have it in front of you in a new browser or Tab while you follow the steps one at a time in your Control Panel: pause the video as many times as necessary, so you get it done right.

You 1st need to set up an add on domain in c panel. Then make sure your new domain is pointed at your ip address from where you purchased your domain.
When you created an add on domain in your c panel, this will have created another directory/folder. You would now publish any pages for your new site to public_html/newsitesfolder/

Ah! Vasili has the quicker fingers.

The c-panel tutorial given here must be using an older version of BV

Blue voda and the control panel have nothing to do with each other...however, yes the cpanel tutorial could be for an older version.. never the less if you LOOK about it will be very very similar and the icon names generally the same..

A file manager is a file manager and .. under one of the sections will be domain names and addon.. sub domains etc.

Yep, I gotcha Karen. No big deal, trust me. Ok, I believe I'm 1 step away from being where I want to go - But that step is actaually a hurdle, here we go....

NOTE: I have coiped and pasted for better follow along

I may be mistaken but don't you have to have 3) done before you can do 2)? Anyway, my issue is step #3. When naming this new website homepage "index" it is conflicting with my other website homepage which is coincidentally named "index" as well. After saving my new home page as, having "index" as the file name and clicking save, I getting xoxoxoxoxoxo already exist, do you want to replace it? (Both are saved in BV)

What am I missing here?

Thank you

1) Please make sure that any domain you add to your account have the correct name servers. Click Here to
learn more about name servers.
2) When you publish to your new domain name make sure to publish it in its own sub directory

For example; For your main website, you would be publishing to your public_html folder. for your new website. You would publish public_html/site2 folder. You are going to have to manually add /site2
after the public_html in the below publish box.

3) Make sure to call your new websites homepage "index" If you are not sure how to name your websites
pages please click here.

4) now if you go to www.site2.com on the internet, you should see the home page for your new website.

5) I have used site2 as an example, you can call it anything you like.

When you do multiple post on the same question it is call spamming

Limit your question to one per post so we can understand your problem.

Stop listening to the voice in your head and try to understand what the members are trying to tell you.

Understanding how each and every function in BV works is the Keyword to learning.

Am I getting the jist?
You can't publish the index page for your addon site?

The only thing odd I can see based on what you've posted here is that you are trying to publish to public_html/site2?

I think you'll find on the newer cpanels you need to publish to public_html/site2.com (or whatever the . dot extension is)

Also remmeber this

Each website needs own 'index' page and to avoid overwriting other 'index' pages, make sure each website has its own folder within BV. This will avoid any conflicts

Actually it's called reponding to answers to my question.

As far as listening to the voices in my head, my psychiatrist tried telling me that one time too.

I realize learning is doing, but frankly I don't have the time nor the desire to understand every single functionality and be a BV guru. I'm just trying to get done what may seem like a simple project to most here.

Bit I do appreciate you sharing!

No one is asking you to understand every function, but to follow the simple steps in order - despite what "version" of Tutorial spells them out for you!

It takes only a minimal amount of observing and thinking to apply the unchanging processes required to achieve the results you seek. Many thousands of others have done exactly that without having the same difficulty as you are experiencing, so it is beweildering as to what your particular challenge might be (thus the "responsive listening" techniques others tried to use to clarify to no avail).

Haha, what a hypocrisy! If you don't understand, then you weren't meant to. I am guessing the target of this does, thus empowering its truth. =)

Good Luck Cobalt!

Not sure if you have solved your issue. If not, allow me to give you a brief explanation:

Your second site needs its own space on the server. To do this, you need to add it as addon.
When you do so, automatically control panel creates a subfolder in your public_html. This is the space where you need to publish. And, as stated, your promary page MUST always be "index"

Now, on your computer, you already have an "index" page for your main site. So, in order not to overwrite it with the "index" of the second site, you must create a subfolder also in your computer, where you will store all the files of the second site. Go in Computer Resources, Browse to the "Documents" folder, and when it open in windows explorer, right click on the white space and from the menu that opens select New -> the "Folder" . Your computer will create a new folder. Name it with the same name of the second site, and when you create your pages save them in that folder.

If you need further help just let me know, I will make (if necessary) an step by step guide for you.
