Thread: Ironic discovering about webbuilding...!!!

So, I take my kids to the library yesterday and decide to look through the section on computers/web building/html etc. I was thinking if I read some books on the basic terms and processes, I would understand this whole world a little better. I couldn't help but notice two ironic things:

1. The section of our library with these type "manuals" (html for dummies, etc.) was in the far back corner of the building where I have NEVER been before (dewy decimal system puts these books in the 00 section)

2. The shelf RIGHT NEXT to the computer books was full of titles such as "witchcraft" "tarrot card reading" "visions" and other such stuff. I have to say I began laughing out loud!!!

You could take this "metaphor" a couple of ways: "all the RUBBISH" is at the back of the library! OR trying to build a website will turn me to the dark side! LOL OR I'm gonna need a bunch of HOCUS POCUS to make this work!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol , imagine what it was like 20 years ago. Good analogy.

you've got to admit that there is something magical about the entire process of creating a website.
One day it does not exist and then the next, everyone can see it.
I still feel a little primitive around the technology.

Good point, Mark...it is "magical" and quite mind boggling to think of the whole scope of the web. Makes my brain go "POOF!"

OH!! I forgot to mention that I actually read one of the books last night and found it VERY helpful...especially on file compressions, tiled backgrounds, and some other things i can use in Photoshop. It is called:
"creative html design.2" by Lynda Weinman

I know i don't need html for BV....but understandin how these basic things work has really helped me get moving on my site.

Have you seen the template down loads? They have some nice ones that will help you get the juices flowing!....mmmm..steak...lol

Circus--thanks! Can't you just feel the breeze and smell the ocean? The pic is standing on a hill in St. Thomas overlooking Secret Harbor...my favorite spot on the island (besides snorkeling underwater or chilling at the Greenhouse Cafe with a frosty drink!) I'm not sure what islands are in the background...there are many tiny ones here and there between the larger named Virgin Islands...
the steel drums? I can hear them in my mind RiGHT NOW!!!!! I LOVE them. Maybe I will earn enough money from my new site to hop on a plane!! WE spent our vacation cash this year on a GIANT flat TV..not sure how i got talked into THAT one..but it was at Christmas time and i was feeling rather jolly!!!!!!! now looking at the pictures of the islands, i totally wonder what was in my holiday egg nog!!!!

For everyone....I must make amends for my earlier post regarding the TV...I was corrected by my 13 year old son that it is NOT a GIANT tv since it is ONLY 48"...and that it was a NECESSITY to replace our 20 year old dinoasour TV because it would not play his **** games to his liking.

Well, i stand corrected!...all I know is right now I would rather be on a vacation than watching a tv! hmmmmm....i wonder if could trade it in???
