Thread: Dont Hold Back

Hey guys!

I was wondering if you guys can help me out! These wacked up people in my town have posted these signs all over saying "DONT HOLD BACK" at almost every street light.

They even have a website http://www.dont-hold-back.com/ and I would like to know if there is a .com internet authority so you can find out who owns it. I don't even understand what the website is about ... it sorta scares the ca-jee-berz out of me .. don't you think?

Is it a riddle, just a noun or something else like are they trying to proove a point or what? The city has spent all day today taking them down...

it sounds like one of those ad campaigns that get you curious and later you find out it's for something like not smoking or whatever...but really strange that they did not get any permission from anyone to put signs up.

I googled to see what I could find as it ahs me very curious but nothing so far. Probably a new company trying to get started too...lol...

I accually just was watching the local news and they said the city spent one whole day taking them down and it is a group of people arround Canada posting these to stop racisme.. does the site describe that at all? Maybe a little, lol ...

Hmmm. the only hint may have been about a concept but they really need help with marketing if they are try to do some good...I suggest you send them your card and offer them the 50% off as good will...lol...you'd do a better job of getting their point across.

Haha! Maybe I shouldn't ... (j.k I am not) but they might be like some big gang ya know? lol .. like these people must of gone out at like 3am in the morning putting these up .. these signs are all over canada and they even ended up in the boonies where I live!

A simple trick, I suppose.....

I would assume 2 things by this Private Registration:
1. Whomever is registrant/behind it is trying to distance themselves from liability;
2. The domain might possibly be in "temporary" use, and could surface for sale later on....(after noteriety has been develped, of course....thus the "shenannigans")

Wow .. thanks! lol .. whom ever it is better hide their identity because the police are after them now, haha .. all I was able to figure out was that they host with GoDaddy and use this type of html editor.

Jeremy all you have to do is go to whois.net and http://www.allwhois.com/ with any blog or website concerns...there you will get all the information you need to figure out what and who they are....this is the results I recieved:

http://wholinks2me.com/ is another area where you can find information on who is linked with that site..

Police after them for littering?
Probably a "under construction" marketing or mortgage company. Advertising like that is cheap, even if they get fined for it, the fine is probably cheaper than the cost of running a newspaper ad.

i checked the link of who dont-hold-back is linked to, and it come up to a 'Skinny Puppy' fan site ... so perhaps it is a marketing attempt for a new and upcoming band? dunno, just a thought

Probably .. because the cops are trying to find out who it is now, it's all over the news and everything.

Hey I'm glad to finally find someone who is in the same boat as I am...I've seen the signs your talking about they are all over Ottawa...I have to say if it's some sort of marketting campaign for something it's pretty kool and it seems to have peeked the curiosity of many people...I only wish I knew exactly what it's all about...Coming Soon? and the website added a new definition A Thought... if anyone knows what it's all about or can ponder a guess at what it is I'd love to hear...I asked around my friends and family and I heard there are posters up in cornwall, toronto and my friends cousin said he saw some in Halifax...maybe ask around and find out how far across this all goes...?just my two cents

Is this a wind up ? ....if not, then its even more spooky cos that website quotes the same quotes that you have on here as your signature....eeeeek......the police will be after you Jeremy lol

People do strange things for marketing.. A few years ago, here in Australia, some guy came up with Rakoon.com.au.. he didn't even know what he was going to do with the name.. but he put a page on the web and some radio ads and all it said, coming soon.. the rakoon is on the prey.. he also hinted that it was going to be a commercial directory.. then, the crazy lunatic, imported 10 actual live Raccoons from the USA, put tags around their necks and tails, look no further.. rakoon.com.au and released them lose in the heart of Sydney city on a busy day at lunch time in a cafe area.. Rakoon was all over the news nationally within hours.. Aussies never seen raccoons before... it was like releasing a Kangaroo in a busy street in Cali... he got arrested, charged and was fined $3,000.. his website sold to optusnet.com within 2 weeks for $5 million.. Don't hold back could be just another marketing stunt.
