George Johnson, considered California's oldest living person
at 112 and the state's last surviving World War I veteran,
had experts shaking their heads over his junk food diet.

"He had terrible bad habits. He had a diet largely of
sausages and waffles," Dr. L. Stephen Coles, founder
of the Gerontology Research Group at the University of
California, Los Angeles, said Friday.

The 5-foot-7, 140-pound Johnson died of pneumonia
Wednesday at his Richmond home in Northern California.

"A lot of people think or imagine that your good habits and
bad habits contribute to your longevity," Coles said. "But
we often find it is in the genes rather than lifestyle."

He remained in good health and continued driving until
he was 102, when his vision began to fail.

Johnson, who was blind and living alone until his 110th
birthday when a caregiver began helping him, built the
Richmond house by hand in 1935. He got around using
a walker in recent years.

Johnson's wife died in 1992 at the age of 92.

I dunno if I would want to live to be 112 or not ...

I do because I start to eat junk food and confound the experts!

I like this story because seems everyone is out there with theories...and its really in your genetic history of how long you live not what you do...my uncle was a smoker, drinker, and ate what ever, fishing was considered exercise and lived to 100.

Oh my ...if its generic then i'm in trouble lol ....the question is now ...should I stick with my new healthy eating plan and more excersize ...or ..say hell with it and go get meself a donut or two! lol

My dad died aged 63 and my mum aged 61 ...if thats true ive only got 10 or 12 yrs left! .criky i better do some living lol

112 years old.. hell.. that's a long time to be messing around in this world.. The only way I'd live to 112 is if I got cloned and my clone carries on after I go.. damn, the clone will be living for 62 years..lol

All I need to do now if find someone t clone me.. every where I go they say: Another Carlos running around...????????

Hmmm..I only want to live as long as I can still go to the loo by myself, and still manage to get around with out anybody's help...if I can't then ...fuhgitabouit...no fun in living likea vegetable...(my opinion)...well unless the whole cloning thing works...hmmm...then again NAAAAH...there is only ONE ME...I'm egotistical enough to want only one of me....lol

Imma send CircusPet some DNA smaples and maybe he can clone little carlos's and take a picture holding them in his hands... It's the only way I'd look cute.
