Hawkwind are still cool. LOL Their site reminds me of your's a little. That TV clip wasn't up to much, was it? LOL You know, being here, has turned me into a right website critic. I was going through all the NASCAR drivers websites the other day and I was sat here going "Oooh, flash, very nice" and "ooh, that's pants we could do you one miles better than that". LOL

    No.

Ever hear of the saying "straw that broke the camel's back"?
I'm loading my gun to shoot the camel and put it out of it's misery.
I'm tired of listening to it on top of everything else.

Oops. Kinda gotchya like that, huh? You should take a break away from these hallowed halls of greatness and laz ... oops, I mean learning and take in some fresh air. There are certain areas that I am known to avoid myself, for very obvious reasons. You are not alone!! LOL I tried but I decided that it wasn't worth the head shaped hole in my wall!!

    I know, I know.....but, maybe I don't know after all?
I get all fanagled over things that others can't even see were it to hit them in the eye, so I fret over THAT on top of all.......They say ignorance is bliss, but really I must just be ignorant! LOL

This "other thing" really puts me into a lurch, for many reasons, and I still haven't found a solution.

Actually, it's still pretty warm, but this is England so I would HIGHLY recommend a sweater!! LOL Our idea of warm and your idea of warm are two very, very different things!! I spent a few weeks in Margarita, a few years ago, in early Oct and it was 120 degrees every flippin' day!! I had a friend from Antigua, Chester, he almost froze his * off during our Autumn!! LOL Every time I see the movie 'Cool Runnings' it reminds me of him. LOL You know the scene where they're leaving the airport in Canada? LOL Definitely a sweater, Beez! I bet you're getting quite excited now, aren't you?

Hey Flo, hee hee, just dropping by, to say Hi! Canada not so cold.....some big, big snowstorms, pretty cool sometimes......get the day off work, no power....have to go back to the simple things......boardgames, whatever......make a good time out of it.....snowball fights, they are fun.....make an awesome snowman....all the neighbours out chatting while we all shovel the snow......some are having a beer while they shovel....not so bad, real cold on a few days, doors freeze up, make icicle designs on the glass and then some days are real pretty, the sun sparkles the snow, evergreens have just a bit of snow on the tips I oilpaint, just love the contrast and shapes. Well that's enough of that kinda of chat, I would love to see England! The castles, sooooooooo many castles. Hadrian's wall up by Scotland....follow the trail of the Romans. Wonderful castles in the UK, especially in Scotland. Very different from the restored places found elsewhere. Never enough time to fully explore it.

Hi 'Wer, LOL, sorry I missed you. It was a busy evening for me being the first race in the NASCAR Chase. A very, very exciting one it was too! Had me jumping and shouting! LOL

Ooh, you get much, much more snow than we do. We used to get plenty of snow, but not anymore. Someone turned up the heat and we have quite mild winters now. I've been snowed in a few times (years ago) but never lost the power, thank goodness! Yeah, I remember snowball fights and building snowmen, great big ones that start off as a little ball of snow. LOL Great fun! If we do get a little snow, which is rare, there's barely enough to build a stick snowman and he'll only last an hour or so. The kids still love it though 'cause they've never seen big fat snowmen! LOL

Ahh, you paint! A lot of my family paint/ed (Grandfather, Aunt, Mother) in oils. I prefer watercolours but am not very good. LOL I can do a mean sunset but that's about it. You should take a photo and post it so we can see. :o))

Yeah, England does have a lot of historic places and they are pretty cool. I like castles and forts, too. My most favourite place is Stonehenge. I love that place. I traced my family history a few years ago. I only got as far back as 1707 but found that my ancestors all lived within a few of miles of Stonehenge. They were all farm workers. Many are buried in a little church graveyard in an village that was taken over by the army for the war effort. The villagers were told it was temporary but were conned and never allowed back. If I want to visit their graves I have to get permission from the Army 'cause it's a danger zone now where they practice blowing houses up and stuff. Very, very sad. Golly, don't I go on? LOL Allstar did warn you! LOL See ya soon.

Took the entire day off to do nothing. Am so 'depressed' that I feel like I have that complex about leaving the house....really weird. I really must follow through with taking back this 17" laptop.....all the pix come out so ****py that it will serve NO purpose in me having it. I suppose I can always plug in a larger monitor, but having clear accurate resolution to me is critical....especially for "webbing"

Beyond that, I have to make up my mind soon what to eat for dinner, or whether to venture forth from my cave for Thai food......

Oh deary me, EV. You are in a bad way. Take the laptop back. You paid a lot of money for it and it's not serving the purpose for which is was bought. And treat yourself to a Thai dinner. There you go - all sorted. LOL

Hi Flo, glad you had fun with the race, can't beat having fun.

You paint! That's awesome a mean sunset eh? I tried water colors, I painted a pheasant (I find water color bleeds on me) I like oils, but takes too long to dry, I do alot of tole, it's quicker and I can achieve the detail I like. Mountains are my favorite thing to paint, but I can't do this with tole, have to use oils.

I have one painting around here that I kept for myself, it's a winter scene of a barn near a clearing of woods. I will try to find it.

Your family history sounds interesting, sad about the graves....that doesn't seem right. I heard that you can not go up close to Stonehenge, is this true?

Must sees for me is the Tower of London-Tudor fascination, Warwick Castle-13th Earl/Joan of Arc-fascination, Charles Dicken's house and definately Madame Trussaud's...we have a small wax museum in Prince Edward Island, no comparison, I think.

Thanks for the chat, take care.......fellow artist?

    Hi 'Wer!

I had to google 'tole', I'd not heard of the word. I know now, though. That's a popular form of artistic expression on many of our canal barges, but it's mainly flowery stuff.

I hope you can find your painting, it's always nice to see other folks' work.

Tracing the family history was interesting but the family isn't, I can assure you! LOL Although the story of the forgotten villiage of Imber is very interesting. They used to open the church for one service a year but have even stopped that now, I believe. Ooh, apart from the fact that it led me to an unknown second cousin who flies for the Canadian AF Coastal Air Defence (or something like that) and lives in Nova Scotia!

Stonehenge - It was all fenced off for a while, but not any longer. The powers that be got paranoid about people touching the stones on occasions when great numbers of people congregate there (Solstice). Like they're gonna damage them? They've withheld 5000 years of weather and ceremonies of all descriptions, so a few hundred druids and the like aren't gonna do any harm.

Warwick Castle is fabulous! I loved it when I visited there a few years ago. Make sure you see it if you ever get over here, you won't regret it. As is Madame Tussaud's. Unbelievable - the work that goes into those waxworks. They are so uncannily realistic - it's creepy. That's right next door to the London Planetarium - the coolest place in London. LOL Well, for me it was. It clean took my breath away. I haven't seen the Tower or 48 Doughty Street. I hope you get a chance to visit one day and see all of the places on your list.

    Catch ya soon!

Hi Flo, I know I can google Solstice, but thought I'd ask, what is that? Yes I've heard about the detail of Trussaud's, one of the largests too, isn't it?

I guess I could google the Planetarium too but I'd thought I'd ask you to tell me what is there?

48 Doughty Street is that Charles Dickens? A few years ago I researched alot of Britain, and things to see as I was going, but ran out of money, so I forget some of the names of things.

You are so lucky to live there (that's what I think)

I have searched for the painting, I am not finding it....but I will....one of the downfalls of being crafty/artsy is the collection of things I tend to keep because I can make something out of it. (I know you know what I mean)

I emailed my brother though, as I know I did a tole for him, he likes Looney Tunes (I tend to give everything away) asked him to take a picture for me. So I post it for you.

It's not the oil, but to show you my words are true, you can paint a wicked sunset with tole not just flowers Flo.....you should try. Not expensive either....you have to shellac your work though to preserve it or water will wash it away.

You have a relative in Nova Scotia......does he/she dress up for halloween? Let them know where to go if he/she does and to let me know who they are and I will give them a family discount. (that is what my family calls it)

I am glad we chat, and have similar interests, good to talk to yah Girl on the Hill aka Amanda aka Flo.

    Big hug

    Hi 'Wer!

Sorry for the delay, I've been a busy bee. I should have said the Summer Solstice - Midsummers day or Winter Solstice - Midwinters day. The Planetarium? Oh, it's a wonderful place. It's this big old building with a really high domed ceiling. Like a theatre, of sorts. They turn down the lights and project a film of the night sky, onto the dome, and narate the story of the stars, the galaxies and the universe. It's so awesome and chilled out. I could live there. LOL Awwww, I've just found out that it has closed and is no more. :o(( Yup, Doughty Sr is the Charles Dickens Museum and his only London home to have been saved.

LMAO!! Yes I collect masses of 'stuff' that might be useful in my art and craft work. LOL. Your painting of the Looney Tunes characters, that you painted for your Bro, is great! Very cool indeed. I might just have a go at that one day.

I'm about to undertake a rebuild of all my sites, so will be scarce over the next goodness knows how long. LOL I will pop by though. Good luck with the Hallowwen party planning. Catch ya soon, CL.

    Alien/Amanda....

I made a sililar mistake yesterday myself. I submitted a ticket as all my sites couldn't be connected via FTP, then when I checked them they were down....only to find when coming into the Forum that ***** was kind enough to post a "News Flash" about the server being down for an hour or so. Made me feel pretty stupid!

What "new name"?? Secrets? I love secrets.....unless they are from prople talking behind my back. Forum expereince will do that to you. LOL

    Howz tricks otherwise?

My worst gripe at the moment is being kicked off of stuff. It's happening so much and I have no idea why. On here, with my online email, with my place. Maybe it's just my broadband connectio playing up but it's driving me nuts. That's my griping done. LOL

I don't know what he means by 'new name', maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Tricks are pretty good for me. I have a lot of work ahead of me, but it's all good and will polish up my BV skills which haven't been used that much for a while. LOL How's EV doing?

    LMAO!!!!

You nutter! Yeah, I had noticed that. LOL I guess it's all done in the name of Seach engine optimisation. We did it on ours (used NASCAR)and it's working pretty well. We're top ten with a few SE's now and we've not been live for two months yet.

Alien, have you any clues as to why my pc has suddenly stopped showing animations? When I view animated .gifs they are not animating at all. I've checked in Maxthon, SlimBrowser, IE6 and Firefox - all nada. I'm stumped. I'm asking you as you use ani.gifs all the time.

I assume you're using IE to browse the net. If so, try to check your IE settings to see if IE is set to show animated images. You can find the setting under Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab. In the Multimedia settings, make sure that Play animation in web pages is checked. Restart IE if you've made any changes, then try to view the gifs again.

If that doesn't work, then it's possible that there may be a setting in either IE or your firewall (if you have one) that blocks animated images, although that's unlikely if you haven't had that problem before.

This problem may also be registry related, so updating or repairing IE can reset you registry settings so the images will be shown properly.

In your anti spy-ware Make sure that the option to block animation is turned OFF.
this can happen when you download or start a new security program.

Did you put money into the slot? Ever since Google has found a way to charge for everything, not even images work right anymore!

PS: I found out it was the wireless connection card that was making all my live-web images distorted: everything looks great in BV, so I can publish with confidence. (I'm keeping the 17" laptop, and getting more for the rest of my crew!) Happy again!

LOL They don't get a penny out of me, EV. They don't charge me for searching the web, they don't charge to list my sites and they don't charge me for my email program, so I'm not complaining. LOL

I'm glad to hear you have sorted out your laptop problems. Good news. Glad to hear that you are happy again, too. LOL
