Hello from St. Louis.
I am looking everywhere for this darned blue smiley face on my cPanel so that I can download WordPress - does anyone have a clue where I can do this? Also, is there a number I can call for help?

Hi Doctor ... welcome ... and welcome to the lounge ... not much shop talk in here ..... but

it is called fantastico, the blue smiley and is on the bottom of your control panel .... you should see about thirty some odd icons that each do different things, and fantastico is the last on the right ....

Thanks LadyEye, but I think what I really need to know is how do I get to that cPanel page in the first place? I saw the demo and haven't been able to find anything like that. What do I click at the top of my VodaHost page to get there? I keep on clicking User CP but it's useless. What is User CP and is it different from cPanel? How do I find cPanel?

Who can tell me how I can log on to the "cPanel" in the first place?

This is the advice I see on how to install WordPress:

1) Login to your control panel "cPanel"
2) Click on on the fantastico icon (Blue Smiley Face)
3) Select WordPress from the list.
4) Click New Installation.
5) Select the domain name you want WordPress installed on (If you have more than one domain names on your account)
6) Select the directory you want WordPress installed on.
7) Enter a username and password
Fill out the rest of the information.
9) Click Install WordPress.

I can't seem to get past #1

Your control panel can be found in the welcome email you received, assuming you saved it .... it can also be found inside of your blue voda website building program, have you registered?

You should have received a welcome email with all your passwords etc., to get into your control panel .... in the email are the links to all such things you will need.

PLEASE remember to create threads in the proper Forum next time.....

Your VodaHost cPanel (Control Panel) is accessible by going to vodahost.com and then clicking onto "Customer Login"....which takes you to the specific Logon page.
>> You will need the information provided in the original VodaHost Account Confirmation emal you recieved when you first created your account.

This will specify your User Name, Password, and which VodaHost server your account was assigned to......now back to the Logon website page:
You will note the named servers (Voda5, Voda6, etc.) which all have different DNS settings shown as paired numbers like DNS 13 - DNS 14, etc. Using your Confirmation email, find out which server you need to login to, and click on the appropriate link.

When you finally get into your VH cPanel, you will see your page populated with all the features we have been talking about all this time.

I assume you have your domain already AT VodaHost, correct? Then you may proceed to install WordPress into your account per instructions above (via the Fantastico! button), If your domain is hosted elsewhere, you need to go back to that provider and enter the correct "Nameserver" information (which is what we call DNS settings" by entering the paired DNS settings specifically assigned to your server (as shown on the Logon page Table). This allows the domain to finally "point" to your Vodahost account.....

In either case, I strongly suggest you install WordPress into it's own directory, to prevent the "index" page from overriding any other website "index" page. There is a box you should fill in with the name of the destination you desire (call it something simple, like "blog" or even a nifty name like "newsroom"). This will allow you to provide links for your visitors to your blog rather than have it be the only thing presented when they arrive at your site......

Then fiddle around with the configuration according to your needs.


and on you go.....

It took me a while to find the correct username and password, but I got it.
