The World's Biggest Pinata Party!

And I don't get anything if you click or go - but it will be fun - and I was honored to create pinatas for the pre-publicity and the event.

Wow Beth that looks cool. I made one once with my neighbor it was her sons birthday. It was a blast to make. It was simple but you wouldnt know it once you blindfolded the little beggers and made them dizzy with sticks in their hands!...lol

That's great Beth! What kind of Pinata's did you make? I was thrilled to attend a childs birthday party in Mexico last year and the Pinata is a big part of that celebration. It was one with a clay pot in it, but the kids still hit that thing like it was paper. They did it a little different than we do here. It was great fun!!

The pinatas we made for the party - were Horstacio - we did mini's on him for pre-publicty - I have a picture of him on the right side of my home page: Pinata Palace

For the event Saturday - we did regular size Horstacio's (to their specs) and stars in a couple colors for decorations.

And now I have another order of the mini's for another publicity mailing.

Wish I was in California this weekend - I bet that will be some fun party.

Dreamlady - clay pots were tradition for pinatas in the "old days". Now, in Mexico - you'll find everything from the traditional to the paper ones. Most of them don't use the clay pots either anymore - as too many can get hurt. But they are fun, no matter how they do it.

Our makers are in Mexico and they pride themselves on making our pinatas 3 dimensional. It's more work but makes the end result so much better. For these, we even turned the head to have him looking at us! The only down side - is we keep the pinatas a certain size to make them affordable to ship - shippers don't care that they are light weight - they care about the size of the boxes!

Beth: Well they sure look great! You say your makers are in Mexico? Do you personally make any of them? I bet that is expensive to ship. It is so crazy about the size of the boxes. It can weight nothing and just because the box is a little bigger they can really get you. Do you inventory them or just order on demand?

We used to make them with balloons and then newspapers soaked with a flour mix and then painted over. Messy and fun.

There was a symbolism to the Piñatas that the Spanish used very effectively in their conversions.

I haven't made any personally in years - when I did they were like what Bill describes :) - my end is sales and my website. They are warehoused in El Paso and shipped from there. The pinatas on the site are warehoused - special orders like this - are made to order - they only pass through the warehouse for shipping - and in this case for special fire retardant treatment.

Number of pinatas? I had made 1000 Horstacio's and 500 stars. That's the total of "real" pinatas at the party - they have a giant (and I mean giant) ******* pinata of Horstacio, also.

And we will have made over 700 mini Horstacio's for them to use in advertising, etc - but those aren't at the party.

Yes, the weather, thankfully, seems to be cooperating - party due to start in a couple hours - not time for me to travel across country, though.
