Bit of trivia.

Why do golf courses have 18 holes, not 20, or 10 or an even dozen?

Seems that back in 1858, during a discussion of the club's membership board at St. Andrews (Scotland), a senior member pointed out that it takes exactly 18 holes to drink a fifth of Scotch. By limiting himself to only one shot of Scotch per hole, the Scot figured a round of golf was finished when the Scotch ran out.

I think the Scots wore Kilts because they had difficulty undoing zippers and buttons (only joking). And because it is nearly always cold in Scotland they had to use the toilet a lot!!!!

One shot of scotch per hole until the Scotch ran out. Man I wouldn't be able to see the 18th hole if that was me. I'm guessing each shot of scotch was a decent nip.

I tried one beer per hole for 18 holes once but couldn't go the distance.

When I golfed, generally at the same municipal course, I would always run into this same golfer who seemed to live there. I asked him how often he played. He answered every day. Then I asked him how his wife let him play so often. He said it was her choice. When he awoke in the morning he would ask her golfcourse or intercourse.
