Default Another one - English word

    Figure this one out:

What common English word is 9 letters long, and each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word....from 9 letters all the way to a single remaining letter ?

I'm so confused!!! It could be a literal riddle that takes a whole word, extracts a letter and still remains a word OR it could be nonliteral... like envelopes. No matter how many letters you take out of the envelopes they are still envelopes.

Bill.... where are you... we need an answer!

There are several longest English words - do you want the one that never repeats a letter twice?

However, if you just want the word that is considered the longest:

    pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

I'm sure there are others considered the longest by other sources.

I think we'll need an unabridged dictionary for that one.

I'll throw that one on my kids who live in the Mt St. Hellens area.
Thank you. I don't own an unabridged dictionary, nor could I lift one anymore.
