    Default I need your sympathy!

As you may be able to guess I need some sympathy please! I fell foul of some ice this morning, and lost control of my lovely little car - hit some trees head on, then landed up backed into the same set of trees somehow! Looks like the cars a write off - I've had it 7 years, and it has been the best car I have ever owned! Won't get much back for it, and it will be impossible in my village without a car as there is no public transport!

I was only 200 yards from home too! Mind you - I would say the everyone was fantastic - the chap behind me stopped (having slid on the same ice he only just managed to stop!), rang the police and stayed until they arrived! The police came, and the constable told me he would stay with the car until the RAC arrived - he had to wait in the cold for 2 hours! It was a total accident, and the police didn't even bother to take my details.

Luckily I am unhurt, just very shaken, and very very fed up! Excuse poor photo - taken on mobile with very shaky hands!

Anyone got a car for sale??

    Trish,
You are so lucky to be okay after hearing your description and seeing that photo! And that is what is the important thing.

I hope you're wrong and insurance will be good to you and you can replace this with another car soon.

    So sorry about the accident!

Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear your OK. Although I have several cars , I don't think the postage would be resonable. Perhaps
allstarface could be saddled up put to good use. Don't forget to wear ear plugs and a chastity belt.

Hope a little humor makes you feel better.

Yup - humour helps a lot! But when it comes to Allstar I think I ought to take you seriously!! And I have a nice pic in my head of a car covered with postage stamps! Need a lot of wrapping paper!

    Thanks CP

Oh Trish oh my oh my, you will be freightened forever of icy roads, I am certain ... you are lucky to have flat roads with no embankments that you might have rolled over in .... enough of the what could have been.

I can feel your heart and body shake and although you have stopped shaking now, you will tremble for a very long time. You are very fotunate.

I understand what you are saying about the insurance and you probably won't be able to replace your car for what they will offer ....

Trish you are certainly a valuable member and asset on this board and have many friends here.

Consider a "paypal" button, I would press submit and perhaps would not be the only one who would like to help you out in this time of need. A few canadian dollars wouldn't hurt anyone. :)
    Seriously.

Take care my dear and do have a bit of wine once you have been checked medically. So glad you are okay.

How long were you alone before someone came to your rescue?

So Sorry Trish to hear and see your accident. Here in Colorado with all the ice and snow we have had, it has been a challenge driving. I'm just glad that you are alright. From the looks of your car...you are very fortunate!

Thanks everyone! It's so nice to have your lovely thoughts from all around the world. I am 99% today - only have a slightly stiff neck! I am very lucky! Back to work today, rode my horse tonight, no problem! Hubby's driving me around at the moment as I don't want to drive his car on ice just yet and the roads are still pretty horrible.

Ladyeye - the accident restored my faith in human nature! The car behind me arrived very fast - almost too fast as he hit the ice himself but managed to stop. That man stayed with me, rang the police, let me borrow his phone to call the rescue people (my battery failed) and waited until the police arrived. Nearly everyone who passed stopped to ask if I was okay, including a nurse! The policeman sent me home to get warm and waited with my car for 2 1/2 hours until the RAC arrived to take it away. I couldn't have asked for anything better!

Only let down - insurance folks not so nice. Have confirmed car not economical to repair, and offered me a pittance! But, I suspected that, although not quite that low!

Still, every cloud..... my son's being looking at new cars. I did tell him that the ferrari was out of my price range......

hope you're feeling better today - thank goodness cars are made to absorbe the impact now days - if you had extra low milage, new tires or paint or anything extra on your car be sure and TELL the insurance company - sometimes that helps with the pay out

Trish, those that do things for free will never stop amazing you .... on the other hand those you have to pay will always make you wonder ... Insurance is by far a huge rip off, it's almost like you pay, pay and pay some more, but look out if you ever have a claim .... hardly fair is it ...

So, be sure to let us know how it all ends up, still looking for that button ......

    Glad you are feeling better.

Well I did try - I told the assessor I had gold alloy wheels (which I thought looked smart with the black paint) and he just said that they were a matter of taste (I think he thought BAD!), and that it may have made it harder to sell! Huh! I was well and truely put in my place!

I also told him it was in good condition (didn't feel inclined to mention the stone chip on the bonnet - thought he wouldn't have noticed that!), and he did say as it was covered in snow and mud he hadn't marked it down for condition. One good thing at least!

Out looking for new cars at the weekend - will keep you posted. Any recommendations?

    Yes Trish

Check your stables, there's one there called "Old Nelly" - reliable, already paid for, no fuel required, just the odd bits of oats & hay, sno ***** to boot, dress warm and arrive safely ....

Oh my God - I think the accident has affected my eyesight - why is a picture of Vasili appearing as the avatar for LadyEye??? Am I seeing things?

LOL - yes, LE - have decided horses are far safer than cars - at least they try to avoid driving into trees! Cars are a bit stupid like that!

Amanda - my hubby was tempted by a Rav 4. Will let him know you have one for sale! You never know.....
