Thread: Molly Ivins

Molly Ivins left us yesterday, losing her third battle with breast cancer,

If you didn't know of her, she was a national treasure, one of the best political satirists I have ever read. I think she knew more about the workings of the Texas legislature than any other person, and was certainly more vocal than most.

The first book I read of hers was:
Shrub : The Short but Happy Political Life of George W. Bush.
After I stopped laughing I found and read more and more.

Some othere are:
Bushwhacked: Life in George W. Bush's America
Who Let the Dogs In? Incredible Political Animals I Have Known
You Got to Dance with Them What Brung You

Not only was she brilliant, but she had a heart as big as her home state of Texas. She was a rare bird, indeed.

She will be missed.

Aww, as an Englishter, I had not come across the name but, as a result of your post, I did a little research. From what I learned, I'm sorry I hadn't as I'm quite sure I would have enjoyed her writing style and subject. I agree, the world will be a poorer place without her and can only hope that her life's work has encouraged at least some of your fellow countryfolk to question what they read, see and to get involved in politics for themselves. RIP, Molly Ivins.
