I moved the vertical stick from the second addition sign to the first I to make a V, so that now the puzzle reads, in Roman numerals - five plus 2 minus three equals 4

nope just moving the one.
If I put it with the first stick it makes a V, albeit a crooked one - just couldn't bet my computer to make it crooked..so I only moved the one stick - the vertical from the plus sign was moved over to the first stick.
