We had a trhread a while back where accents from various members came through in their postings (yes, they did) I've just tripped on a web site http://www.accent.gmu.edu that lets you hear accents from all over the world. A Problem--if I type in www.accent.gmu.edu I go directly to the accent page. If I use the url inserted here I go somewhere else - a very intersting history/language site but you may have trouble. I agree with ddstile...people on this forum ahve got some serious accents and you can make it out quite easily. It's what keeps this zone fun. As for me, i've been told I've got too many accents...changes depending on who I'm talking to...for this forum, I've got mainly an 'american accent' but my Jamaican does come through every now and then...:))

Beezzz - a charming combination of sounds. Actually (didn't want to say "seriously" on this forum) having lived all over the world, how people write does bring sounds to the mind's "ear" and accents evolve. I'm sure I'm wrong - if I meet any of the people I "hear" it will probably be very different. It doesn't matter much but adds a little dimension to the otherwise flat, bland computer coversability. whatcha mean darlin' I agree with Trish. I dont have an accent either! Vermonters just dont have accents...grin I did however hear that Austrailians invented a short talk due to the sun being so hot and that Vermonters talk slower due to the snow freezing thier systems...but I think he was just jokin with me!... |

Amanda - Well after my wonderful austrailian friend said that to me I told him that he had never been in vermont when its 40below zero and trying to talk while going into the house where its warm! you can chat quite quick!..lol You ve gotta know Im going to try to do that when the sun comes back out!...lol.... |
