Thread: Do you Haka?

For those of you that do not know what the Haka is. Turn your speakers up
and watch the below…(Its very cool)

Had not seen Haka before. Still trying to figure out how many adult beverages I would have to consume before participating.

The Kiwi All Blacks perform it before every Match, It really gets the crowd very fired up, I have seen them do it once, it’s excellent. But then you have

I don't know about participating, but I know I'd surely wet myself if they did that toward me.

It's an ancient Maori war dance and it's intended to do exactly what Race said! Lol. I am not going to watch the Scottish one!!!

Throwing caution to the wind, I decided to have a couple beers (shocking, I know) and try to Haka. Now that my attempt has failed miserably, I sit here with a stubbed big toe, a pinched nerve in my neck, a strained right groin muscle and a cat that thinks I've transformed into the spawn of satan. Keep these bright ideas coming, *****, you should have me fully killed off in a month or so.

I naively expected to hear bagpipes and see everyone run for cover!

I like rugby better than footy (soccer)...the New Zealand All Blacks are great to watch...seen them do the Haka many times on tv ....

Like Amanda said, its a traditional Maori warrior dance inteding to unerve the opposition, now done before every rugby match the All Blacks play ...its great i know the first couple of lines

has he heard of the sale sharks? if not ask him if he has they are quite popular at the moment and they are very close to me , they have a few chaps from there that represented england which is of course home to rugby, maybe i could use a few contacts and try to obtain some signatures but dont say anything just in case im not sucsesfull , i will let you know

Sorry Bruce, But its not an aborigines war dance, Aborigines are from Australia.
The Haka is performed by many Tribes throughout the Pacific. What they are doing, when they perform a Haka is lay down a challenge. They used to do it when the different tribes would go to war. If you watch rugby between the Pacific nations they will all do a Haka. So if New Zealand are playing, say Tonga. Tonga will do their Haka (lay down the challenge) and then New Zealand will do their Haka, return the challenge. All the Haka’s are different as well. Hope that helps…You should get to see it live on the 27th August … When the mighty All Blacks demolish the poor Springboks…
