Thread: I'm a Grandma now!!!

Hi all.. I see you have busy chit chatting while I've been away. Some funny stuff this last week!!

Anyway, I've been on an adventure to California. Was able to be present and help in the birth of my first grandchild. Unfortunately there have been many complications. She was born the early morning of June 14th. Both granddaughter and mother have had a rough time. My daughter-in-law is doing great now and my granddaughter is improving everyday. The doc's are hoping she can go home in 7-10 days.

you can get a glipse of what she is going through. Persistant Pulmonary hypertension, pneumothoraces, air pockets under lungs, heart valve not closing properly are a few. But she is on the upswing now and doing well. By next Tuesday, they hope to have her un-sedated and off the venelator/resprirator and in the arms of her mom and dad.

Thank you all for your warm thoughts, prayers and friendship. This is what I love about this Blue Voda forum in that people you have never met, are concerned and caring not only about website issues, but more importantly, Life issues. Thank you! It is amazing what medical technology can do these days. I have a lot of faith that she will pull through all of this and be stronger because of it.

Cindy, she will do just fine. You will LOVE being a grandma! There is nothing better.

Congrats grandma...she is a beauty and will be breaking hearts in the future. My prayers and best wishes are sent with this for you and your whole family. Your whole family is blessed with a wonderful new being and to be honest babies just make me go aww and want to start crying because they are so wonderful. Thank you for sharing her.

Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness and prayers. Noa Anne is doing great! She is off the nitric oxide and off the Ventilator. The air tubes are coming out tomorrow and she will finally be able to be in her parents arms most likely tomorrow with an anticipated going home date of Saturday! I may have to make another trip in a few weeks, just so I can hold her to.

This is wonderful news and I'm so happy for you and your family. How far are you away?

Great news! I bet you wished you lived closer!

I live in Colorado and they live in San Diego, CA. So I'm to far to drive, but can certainly hop on a plane. Last Tues my son called me at 1:00 in the afternoon and said the doctor was admitting her to the hospital and was going to induce labor. I called hubby, he made plane reservation for me and my 8 yr old and we were on the plane by 6:00pm. Got to the hospital in San Diego at 10:30 and she was born at 1:30am. So I was very fortunate to get a flight so quickly. Anyway, all is well. My son is in the Navy and deploys in Sept. His wife and Noa Anne are moving back to Colorado while he is deployed, so I'll be able to see that little girl a lot in a few months. I may just have to wait. (darn)

My youngest who is going to be 21 in sept, was premature, 5lbs 4oz..and he spent 7weeks in ICN.

Kate...I bet that was so difficult. My oldest, now 26 was 5lbs 4oz, but lost 6 oz before we went home. All was ok, so got to go home after 4 days, and I remember how hard that was. I just can't imagine 7 weeks!

I have a favor to ask of everyone, pleaseeeeee... Beezz helped walk me through putting up a guestbook. My son and daughter in law do not have a computer, so they go to the library every other day to check email and look at the website. Instead of sending the world their email address, and telling them how many people were sending the best wishes, I thought of doing a guestbook. Could I impose on all my good friends in Voda Land to sign their guestbook! It would really mean a lot to me and them. Here it is: http://noahanne.com/guestbook

Cindy - it was very hard. His father and I would travel 50miles to where he was and spend the weekends at the McDonalds House. Its hard to believe now that after he came home it was like having a tiny doll...lol..now I have to stand on my tippy toes to kiss his cheek!...lol...

No problem. I have a soft spot for children and animals because they are the most helpless and innocent among us. Now adults on the other hand, I can take 'em or leave 'em. LOL

Your granddaughter is beautiful. So glad she is home. I used to work in the neonatal intensive care so I know how scary it can be for the whole family. I have two nieces that were born weighing 2lbs. One is now 24 and the other is 18. Both are perfect.
