Thread: Only want Index page in google search

Hi All,

I wanted to know how I can go about getting only my Homepage (index) appearing in Google once a search is done.

Currently when i do a search on my website (Steam Jet Cleaning) i also gets results for my FAQ and Terms of Use page, which i dont want.

When people search my website, I would only like the main page appearing in the search results................how do i go about making that happen?

With a robots text file.

I dont know why youd want to limit yourself, but thats how you would do it.

I agree with Karen. The reason you HAVE multiple pages is so you can have more people find you by more searches. If you limit yourself, and someone is looking for your address, and types that request in the search - and they get your home page instead of the address page, for example, you're forcing them to go through more pages. If what they're looking for is on the other page - then let them find it in one click.

I guess i see your point and now thinking about it I would have to agree. I suppose as long as my index page is on top of the other pages in the search result, then it would be ok. But i wouldnt want say........my FAQ page appearing on top of my HOMEPAGE, but i guess that would be how I use keywords on my pages?

Just for my reference though what would i have to write in the robot text file so just my HOMEPAGE appears in search results.

theres lots of generators out there.. just google for robots.txt files
