I notice you have dont it wrong on your site Michele. Remove the button that has the google verification code on it from your site.
Open up notepad on your pc, save it as the google file name exactly as they gave to you. Place this file in your root folder. i.e. you rpublic_html folder if this is your only site.
Then click the verify button.

Hi Ramsey,
I'm going to sound like a real fool now. I can't find that folder on my computer. I've checked on the "c" drive and my documents directory.
Michele
which folder are you looking for?

The root folder
It's on your server not your pc.
Open up BV
Tools > FTP Manager
Connect to your account
You will then see two windows, one on the left and one on the right.
The one on the right is showing your PC files
The one on the right is showing your VH server.
Make sure the R/H window is open in the public_html folder, you should see all your images and pages here.
Open the L/H side to the folder where you save your notepad verification file.
Once found, hold your left mouse key down on the file and drag it over to the R/H side and onto your server.

I am using Soholaunch.
ahh ok....
go into your VH cpanel,
Click on 'file manager'
click on 'public_html' folder
Then you should see a list of pages, files.
Somewhere on there will be an upload a file button.
Upload it that way.

Okay so I'm going to create the html file in notepad, save it on my "c" drive and upload it the way you explained above?
That's right yes.

I created the file in BV cpanel. After I've done that they say I must upload it to http://www.giftcorporation.net Where do I do that now? I thought I was almost there.
If you have uploaded it to the public_html file on your server then you already have uploaded it to www.giftcorporation.net.
Just go back to google webmaster tools now and click 'verify'

Doesn't work. "Web page not found" http 404 error. Maybe I must leave it for today and check in the morning when my brain has refreshed.
email me and attach the google file (notepad file) and I'll do it for you

I did it! Finally! Thank you for your patience Ramsey. Wouldn't have done it without you. Now for my next headache... I have to create a site map. Oh well, that will keep me out of mischief for a while.
Thank you again,
Michele
You are welcome Michele
