Thread: SE's cannot read sitemap

In trying to submit my sitemap to Google, Yahoo and Bing, none of them seems to be able to read my site.
Bing cannot read the files to authenticate me as the legit owner of my site.
Yahoo has my url listed, but only for my homepage and the title they display definitely never came from my homepage.
Google claims my sitemap is in an unsupported format.

To try and identify the problem I uploaded the necessary files to a free webhosting service and resubmitted...
It worked fine - Bing authenticated me and Google accepted my sitemap no prob.

I believe the problem is somewhere on Vodahost - a firewall setting or something. THis seems to agree with the fact that WSFTP and SmartFTP software don't work with my site either, only Filezilla does.

Can anyone help?

Upload it the same way as you did the free host or whatever. And make sure you give google the CORRECT location

Google locates the file. It claims "unsupported format", but when I upload the same file to another host, it accepts it fine.

The problem is not the file format or the location info!

Then i suspect you have an error somewhere in your google account.

Yes, it is either Vodahost or it is Google and Yahoo and Microsoft.
I am investigating all options.
